"Relationship with peers"

So in terms of grades, I’m pretty solid; as far as I know I have all As and a single B (the B is in geometry, and it should be noted that I had had almost no prior experience with high school geometry when I started the class midyear). But, I don’t really have any friends; I just don’t feel like I clicked with anyone at my school. Nobody felt I was really funny or “cool”, I guess. And I’m not completely socially illiterate either. I don’t know how my teachers have rated me in “relationship with peers”… How much would this hurt my application?

it’s probably not as bad as you think

Well, considering that a lot of the kids applying to prep schools are probably “above” their peers in terms of interests and maturity, it’s probably not that big of a problem… It just worries me that they want to see “involvement in community” and such. I’m looking into peer tutoring in math (not only for my application but for myself), so that might boost things a bit.

My guess is that the question is designed largely to weed out applicants who have obvious social issues. If you’re respectful of your classmates in discussions and generally seem to get along with people I wouldn’t sweat it. Most teachers don’t really know how many friends you have outside of their classes so they’ll base this assessment on what they see. Unless you’re a bully, being bullied, or obviously socially isolated you should get a reasonably good rating from your teachers.

well they want people who will contribute to the feeling of COMMUNITY in their school. Not anti-social recluse nerds. If your teachers put your “relationship with peers” on a column anywhere below Good, then you will be hurt. immensely. unless you have a reasonable explanation.

My point is that your teachers probably won’t know if you are, as SnapePotter puts it, an “anti-social recluse nerd”. Many quiet kids have tons of friends outside of class. It’s extremely unlikely that a teacher who lacks information about your social life will give you an unfavorable rating.

well obviously it still won’t be as the one actively engaged in class discussion and qroup work.
