Release date for HP 7 (Deathly Hallows) announced

**Publication Date for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows **

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published on Saturday 21st July 2007 at 00:01 BST in the UK and at 00:01 in the USA. It will also be released at 00:01 BST on Saturday 21st July in other English speaking countries around the world.
It’s on Rowling’s site.

Yessssssssss Yesyeysyseyeys

She should have made the date 07/07/07. :D

Using any symbolic release date could have problems. The number 7 is considered very holy to most Christian sects, Catholicism especially (7 deadly sins, 7 cardinal virtues, 7 spheres of heaven, etc.) The number 777 is actually considered the “number of the Lord” as opposed to 666, the “number of the beast”.
Considering that some high-profile ultra-conservative Christian activists haven’t been to pleased with the Harry Potter series (the whole witchcraft thing and whatnot) that release date could make some people very displeased.

Also, neo-Nazis often use 777 as a symbolic number, since they believe that they are doing the holy work of God in persecuting Jews, whom they believe to be the devil. The neo-Nazi triskele, in fact, uses the three digits to create a shape similar to a swastika. I’m sure JK Rowling wouldn’t want to risk being associated with neo-Nazis.

It would have been cooler if she waited until July 31st. But anyway – YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!

The only thing that’s annoying about this is that I’m going to be in Japan when it comes out so I won’t be able to get it right away. I’ll probably get my parents to send it to me, or somehow see if I can find the english version there, but I feel bead about it because I’ll end up hiding from everyone until I finish it.

But oh well…it’s still HARRY POTTER!!! squee

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a tad bit obsessed.

And wasn’t 7/7/07 the anniversary of the London bombings…?

Not to mention it’d be so close to the movie release date Rowling wouldn’t be able to profit from the hype as much.

Yeah, 7/7/07 would be illogical. I think that even the date as it is is too close to the movie from a marketing standpoint. It’s only eight days later.

I thought it was good because it was the 7th book, and 7/7/07 is on a Saturday.

How would it be bad from a marketing standpoint?

gzhang you forgot to mention that the 7 deadly sins is a lie. you also forgot to mention in hebrew the number 7 stands for complete. Also why the hell shud rowling care. jews and hindu’s celebrate christmas, is that bad too? people do not “rest on the sabbath” is the world going to end? she shud have done 7 7 7

Calm down. I’m an atheist. I believe that the 7 deadly sins are lies too, but there are people out there who don’t.
Rowling “shud” care because it might affect her book sales. Last I checked there were far more Catholics than Jews on this world. No offense, but I’m just pointing out facts.

Last time I checked these “catholics” also bought Da Vinci code and made it a best seller. BTW im a christian. lol and gzhang are you by any change george zhang from westborough high? PM if im right.

I’m so excited for HP7… and now even more so because July 21 is my birthday. How cool is that?

I don’t see her making it 7/7/7 because of the anniversary of the London bombings…also 31st July wouldn’t work since it is a Tuesday, and releases are always on Saturdays (not a school day etc.)

!!!

Hmm…

One day after the public release of HP6, I breakdanced (waltzed is getting a bit… redundant) into the library and replaced disposition to a friendly one, greeting the librarian with a charming smile. The librarian, heeding my unspoken words, promptly returned from a small room, carrying the novel with divine reverence. I, still maintaining my spellbinding grin, politely thanked her, pocketed my library card, and instantaneously teleported out of the library into my secret hiding place on Mars. Of course, throughout this ordeal I held in my right hand a large, poison-tipped dagger, but that had no relevance to the outcome of the ordeal, did it? ;)

I aspire to do the same this year. :)

for my English midterm, I made every single one of my twenty vocabulary sentences about Harry.

Soo Cool!!!

I am absolutely terrified to go to a Barnes and Noble party because of that one YouTube video with the guy who drove by screaming “Snape kills Dumbledore!!!” I’m probably going to have to keep myself in complete isolation for the week prior to release.

My theory - the snake in the zoo in the first book will come back from Brazil and have a show-down with Nagini. Bam.

My theory:

All of a sudden, the laws of physics will reappear! All the people flying on broomsticks will fall down; hence, it would be raining broomsticks. Harry is unfortunately underneath a flying wizard when physics reappears. Having suffered a painful blow to the head, he decides to rest and watch ESPN on T.V. Lord Voldemort, having suffered the same fate, goes over to Harry’s house to watch the big game. And then, a huge meteor crashes into the Earth! BOOM!

Moral of the story: No matter who you are, you can always watch T.V. :)

ahhhhh im so excited lol
