Ever since we bought this house, the spots/stains/discoloration were there on the wide spaced white grout. I used every conceivable cleaners on those including oxy, bkf and comet, they are not budging. Today I spent half an hour using the steamers to pin point one or two spots to no avail.

I have a grout cleaner. Its like a toothbrush, with long, hard bristles. I go over every inch with a cleaner. There are some spots that need regrouting.

^^Yes, but I have looked. If I start replacing the counter top, I have to change the splash, and then the cabinet may be damaged, then the floor and since most of the first floor is the same material, I had to replace all, then the bathroom has to be replaced because it has matching tile with the kitchen. Well, once the floor is replaced, you won’t be able to stand the two rooms with engineered hard wood floor any more, so they have to be replaced. What about the stairs? and the Bar on the second floor? Mater bath? And the appliances? mind as well get all sub zero built ins. Obviously, painting is needed afterwards.

Pretty soon, those few spots on the grout will turn into a $100,000+ renovation plan and I still have tuition to pay… lol

I have to be extremely EXTREMELY careful, because one slip of that grout removal tool and damage one tile, I am dead in the water, the house did not have ANY replacement tiles and it is a high end tile that cannot be found anywhere. I guess the previous owner had imported directly from Italy 18 years ago when its being built.

I use biokleen Oxygen bleach plus and Clorox bleach cleaner. I color my hair and then wash it in the shower, and I would get some (black) color on the grout. I put the oxy mixture on first then spread it with the Clorox cleaner, let it sit for 15 min to half an hour then rinse.

i think sometimes it depends on how old the grout is. Old grout…like 40 years, is hard to clean and you might have to regrout. The grout on our kitchen floor is 13 years old and went from beige to black. I had an estimate from a carpet cleaner and they quoted about $600. From another board I used to frequent, I found out about a cleaner called Awesome at the dollar tree. Yes…$1 for a spray bottle. I purchased two and we were laughing as we were using it because my grout looks brand new. It also is incredible on carpet. It won’t work on real old grout though.
