I know this post is sorta irrelevant to UVA’s discussion (well a lot really), but I didn’t know where else to post. So I know there are required vaccinations for college and one of those is the HPV vaccinations that are given every three months, but I haven’t even gotten one of them yet b/c I wasn’t aware of these until I got an acceptance packet the other day (VA school) and it had a paper for vaccinations and I started to freak out and started asking my friends, but the majority either didn’t know these exist or they haven’t gotten them yet… I’m going to get them ASAP, but just out of curiosity, what happens if you don’t get the vaccinations in time?? Do you have to start at a later time?
The HPV vaccine is given in 3 shots. The second shot is given 1 or 2 months after the first shot. Then a third shot is given 6 months after the first shot. Call your doctor to get in asap to get the first shot. You will be able to get the 1st and 2nd shot before school starts. I am sure as you are in the process you should be fine.
Okay!! I’ll make sure to do that!! Thank you so much!!
My daughter just received her last HPV this week:). The second shot is 2 months after the first:).
The HPV vaccine is recommended, but not required.

oh my goodness @siliconvalleymom you are a savior!!! So that means like what college67 said, as long as I get the required ones before spring semester, I should be good? As long as I am in the process? Thank you so much!!! I’m hoping this is what other VA colleges do just in case I don’t get into UVa. But again, thank you!!!
The student health facilities offer vaccinations especially for incoming international students. I got my allergy shots at student health regularly during my time at UVA.
