Rescind Acceptance

If s/he accepts Cornell’s ED FA offer, then s/he will withdraw other apps, and that happens before RD decisions are made. If s/he declines the offer, the apps stay in place.

You don’t have to withdraw until you get your FA offer.

RD decisions are done LONG TIME after you get your FA offer from your ED acceptance.

A minor correction that is perhaps obvious:

You don’t have to withdraw until you accept your FA offer.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I wasn’t planning on waiting to a really late date anyways, but I was worried that if the FA offer was not enough I would not be able to afford it thats all. However, my FA is delayed because they seem to be missing some information, most notably my parents’ federal tax returns. I tried several times to inform them that my parents dont have tax returns because they are living abroad for 6 years and they make too little to file for tax, but on the account Cornell gave me it still shows as missing, which worries me.

Ok to sum up everything in order to get rescind acceptance a person has to either:
(1) get arrested
(2) get expelled
(3) get c’s across the board
(4) get caught with drugs??

What about IB scores lower than the given predicted scores?

lower IB scores wont get your application rescinded either.

Do you have to “accept” the ED fin aid offer? I thought you just sent in the deposit and then sent in the FAFSA come tax time.

did you send in the collegeboard financial aid docs by november 1st? (im assuming you’re early decision…)

yeah yeah yeah
i got my letter yesterday with my “offer” but it didn’t say anything about “accepting it”. I’m pretty sure it’s just a matter of sending in the deposit and doing what the sheet tells you to do (send in FAFSA, new tax returns, etc) later on. Right?

probably… I’m not 100% sure because i didn’t send in the stuff by nov. 1

If the amount and structure of the offer works for you, then you know what to do. But if it doesn’t work, you can appeal (they may or may not do better) or just tell them you decline the offer, and apply RD elsewhere.

interesting. so if i hypothetically maintain straight B’s for the rest of the year (first and second semesters), they would not do anything?

no they wouldnt. they will only do something if you completely FAIL (not CC fail but legit straight Es). but after working hard for 3 years you just want to throw in the towel? keep in mind that with AP classes, if you do well on the tests, you may be able to get some credit or skip the intro level classes (i kept up my work and managed to place out of math and i got 11 college credits)

Wats cc fail??

^like how students on college confidential think failing is a B lol

A- is a fail.

A B is an utter fail. Period.

I don’t know what’s a C or a D.

A fail is only relative to one’s academic potential.

I would cry if I got an A, and I’d probably drop the class if it was an A-.

^ Hey, some newbie might actually believe it! ;)
