i dont have my pictures available right now, but there are two wings of brown (old and new). New is in the suite setup (rooms with common room etc) and old is hallways.

Wiess has suites. For freshmen and soph, you have two doubles (in Red) one common room (yellow) and bathroom (green)

4 people per suite. Upperclassmen get singles (4 singles, 1 common room and 1 bathroom)

Wiess has the best rooms on campus. People will contest this, but from a neutral perspective (ive seen, worked with and fixed rooms in every college) they are the best. Martel has nice rooms too - but their bedrooms are smaller (although they have bigger common rooms)

Wiess is also super ugly on the outside. Just a heads up

Antarius, you said you’re a Wiessman so do u really feel we’re cult? One of my friends who is currently at Hanszen said we were an “elitist cult”. But then again he is from Hanszen lol.

As Antarius said, every room at Sid is a double. However, there are two types of suites: vator suites and corner suites.

VATOR SUITES–WHAT YOU WILL LIKELY GET AS A FRESHMAN
two doubles connected by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. there are two toilets, two sinks, and one shower for the four people in the suite. each room has a walk-in closet and one window.

CORNER SUITES
two doubles connected by an inner-hallway-type thing. The bathroom is right off the hallway. There is one toilet, two sinks, and one shower for the four people in the suite. Each room has a walk-in closet and two windows. The picture Antarius posted is one of a corner suite.

When you get your room info (this week or next), it will tell you whether you’re in a corner suite or a vator suite.

Floors at Sid tend to be grouped based on lifestyle. 2nd and 5th are RA floors, so they’re pretty quiet. Seventh is the party floor, although there can be parties on other floors as well. Sixth tends to be an upperclass floor while 3rd and 4th tend to be sophomore floors. There will be freshman suites on every floor so you are guaranteed to live on the same floor as some freshmen but also some non-freshmen. The Masters live in an apartment-house thing attached to the first floor.

Every floor at Sid is actual split-level so you have “lower fourth” and “upper fourth.” Each floor has its own lobby with various amenities (white-board, ping-pong table, arcade game machine, couches, comfortable chairs, etc.) Each floor has floor representatives (elected at the start of the fall term) who appropriate money to various floor parties, potlucks, functions, etc. However, your social life is DEFINITELY not limited to your floor by any means.

Hopefully this helps! The O-Week book can also help with a lot of these types of questions.

We are a cult in the sense that Wiess does its own thing. For better or for worse. The rest of campus does one thing and wiess is like “screw you” and does something else

Its nice because you get to do something different and some things are nice. It sucks because there is a pervading sense of ambivalence and sometimes nothing happens at all.

It is an interesting place. Hanszen on the other hand is super close (almost family like) but ultra lame in terms of their pranks etc. The 1995 called and wanted their prank back

I’ve been assigned to Lovett. I know its the people, not the building, who make the college, and I’m really looking forward to meeting my fellow Lovetteers. But I’ve seen a lot of complaints posted about the physical space. What are the negatives? Are there any positives? Be honest.

Also, from the picture posted here it looks like there is only one (small) closet per room. I confess I like to shop (I’m a girl and proud of it; also an archi interested in space planning). I’d like to hear from the female perspective. How do you make the storage work?

there is 1.5 closets per room. Half of one was used in the recent 12 million dollar HVAC renovation. It sucks for storage, but atleast the place doesn’t smell anymore

Lovett has cool people, throws some of the best parties on campus (Second to 80’s by Sid in my opinion) and has a badass college coordinator (shout out to Sharon!!)

The rooms do suck. Like there is no good way to sugar coat it. The building is ugly and the rooms are dark. We just put brand new furniture into Lovett, so that is a plus

McM, Duncan, Wiess, Martel, New Baker, WRC and Lovett have new furniture (new style Wiess is like 8 years old now)

I cannot give you a female perspective - but i can tell you there isnt too much space.

Also - as an archi you wont be in your room EVER. So dont worry
