Responsibility to keep fit for your spouse?

garland, as long as you are not wearing green polyester bell bottoms from the 70s or a Christmas sweater with kitty cats - I have some jeans that are 15 years old and some pencil skirts that I bought 10 years ago, and they look indistinguishable from what is sold in the stores today. As long as they fit properly and do not have holes or stains, I wear them! Some clothes do not go out of style, it is just the stuff that lands on the front page of those glossy magazines does ;)

BTW–Paul Newman divorced his first wife after 9 years and 3 kids. Just sayin’. . .

My brother was overweight and not fit, he died young. He died of a heart attack leaving his wife alone. Take care of ourselves does not mean we are shallow. I often think it’s sad that his wife and him did not get to grow old together.

I hear you, Columbia! My uncle died of a heart attack a month before his 50th birthday. He was morbidly obese to the point he had to go to a tailor because not a single store in his city carried pants in his size. He loved fatty foods, was a couch potato, and ignored his wife’s pleas about taking care of himself. He was a gentle giant with a very kind soul. He and his wife were college sweethearts and married while still in college. My aunt was completely devastated when he died…

BB–I think I can manage that! (I hate anything seventies, basically, and as for kitty cats on sweaters–shudder!)

BB- I have some jeans from the 70s (chemin de fer!) and 80s…I can’t wear 'em, but I have 'em!

my H & I used to sleep in a twin bed ;), not that I would want to do that again- but only just have a double bed so we can use the bed that my great uncle made for his wife.

( however when it was the kids and the dog too, we had a queen)

I agree garland- the 70’s fashions were hidious, and the 80’s werent much better.
I think I may still have some Sassoon jeans but I would never wear them.

My D is smart though. Her taste runs to narrow leg jeans and cashmere cardigans with tanks.

 • her kids* aren’t going to be able to laugh at her yearbook.

Maybe not at the clothes (although probably even at those, as we laugh at the twin sets & pearls from the 50’s), but probably at the hair! I always tended towards a more classic clothing look myself, but there are still pictures along the lines of “WHAT was I thinking???”

Besides, kids will always find something about their parents to laugh at!
