In New England, Legal Seafoods takes allergy prevention VERY seriously. It’s the only chain place I’d trust, I think.
When my peanut and nut allergic daughter and I dined at Legal Seafood, after the waiter took our order the manager came over and told her he would be personally observing the preparation of her meal.

Now that is service!!!
In Mass and New Hampshire, Burton’s Grill is also committed to food allergy safety. Prominent on all menus and evident in staff procedures.
As others have commented, Legal Seafood makes the cut of an upper level restaurant.
Legal Seafood may be a chain, but in my experience they do have high standards, Red Lobster they aren’t. I know people who work the wholesale end of the seafood business, and they all say legal seafood is on a par with high end seafood restaurants in their quality control and in the desire to have the best seafood supplied. I know something of seafood restaurants, including some high end ones, who cut corners on quality, use frozen where it is supposed to be fresh, or treat seafood that is marginal but is old enough to look tired to try and make it look fresh, rather than get rid of it
My husband and I dine regularly at a chain pan-Asian restaurant and usually order the lettuce wraps as an appetizer. One time, the dish had an off taste that was smokey. We informed the server who had the dish remade with the same result. The server then sent over the manager who insisted that there was nothing wrong with the dish and that it was certainly not burnt. He then offered to burn a batch and have us taste it just to prove his point. We declined, they removed the item from our bill, and gave us a gift card for—guess what–lettuce wraps!
Hey @JazzyTXMom, did you used to be jazzymom? I haven’t heard from her in a long time!
“He then offered to burn a batch and have us taste it just to prove his point.”
What a knucklehead! Since its a chain restaurant, I would have been contacting someone at the corporate level just for the principle of it. Maybe a post on their Facebook page or something.
No, that wasn’t me.
