revoked admission

ok, so i going to uva. unless i get my admission revoked. currently, i have like all Bs because i’ve been slacking off like none other all year. how much can i push this slacking? this is my last month of school and honestly, i’m going to have more work than EVER before. and i have to miss a bunch of school because of tennis. so basically, i want to see if i have to push myself to some ridiculous limit this month. i don’t want to kill myself and i want to make sure uva won’t revoke my admission.

You’re not getting your admission revoked. DONT WORRY! I’ve heard more selective admissions commitees at schools say that you can have one D and get by… dont fret

haha your fine. just breathe. =)

well like i’m kind of in danger of losing a couple of my Bs, so let’s say worst case scenario i get 2 Cs, i’d still be fine? haha UVa is my dream school and i’m so f#cking happy to be going, so i want to MAKE SURE that i don’t get my $h!t revoked.

besides, i’ve heard of kids getting their $h!t revoked from places of UVa caliber with one C or 2 Cs before. that worries me.

and i’m also out of state from florida so i don’t know if they’ll hate on me for that too haha i know i’m paranoid but i gotta make sure

deark - really? i doubt people get their admissions revoked because of a few c’s, but i really wouldn’t worry about it. perhaps a current student can provide more perspective.

yeah i’ve heard of people getting admissions revoked at places like northwestern with one C, and i consider nwu as an academic peer of uva. i know that uva still may have different policies; i just want to know what they are so i can have peace of mind haha

I got straight A’s the first semester of senior year. The second I got like 3 A’s 2 B’s and a C because I just didn’t care after I had gotten into UVA and taken my AP exams. They won’t revoke your admission unless you really F up (lots of C’s and/or D’s). Worst case, you call or write them a letter explaining yourself, and they are generally pretty receptive.

that’s comforting haha worst case i’ll have 2-3 Cs so would that be ok?

bump. . .!

Why not just get A’s?

I was going to say the same as cavalier…then I looked at my grades :)

A’s require too much work

you’re fine. I dont think they will even look that hard. I dont think you should write them a letter, because that would only point out the situation. What would your C’s be in?

well see here’s the deal

i kind of expected to get into penn early decision (which was ABSOLUTELY ■■■■■■■■) and did jack $h!t first semester and had almost all Bs. and this semester is a repeat story haha. my Cs would be in ap calc and/or ap stat (don’t ask, our stat teacher is just ridic)

bump i need more opinions haha

you will be absolutely fine. seriously. obviously you’re pretty freaked out so i’m guessing you’re keeping yourself in check right now. honestly, its all good! don’t worry about it, I’m sure they still want you, especially if you’re out of state.

I was at the Amherst Alumni Reception in DC last night, and someone else brought up the question of “unadmitting” students

the dean was like a couple people got unadmitted last year. I freaked out, and at the end I went up to him and explained how I got overworked, started working, got really stressed and my grades fell and now have like couple C+s

He was like don’t worry about it … it’s only for people who crash and burn. People we think have lost all motivation to study, and may become an average student at Amherst and not really try very hard. He said I shouldn’t worry too much about my Bs and C+s. He said I might get a letter asking to explain what happened, but he said grades are only something that trigger the admissions office to ask what happened, they do not result in automatic revokation of your admission offer. He also added that since they only see my final transcript, it is still not too late to get them up

I would assume that UVA would have a similar policy, or even less stringent as Amherst is significantly more selective than UVA

that definitely makes me feel better haha i only havel ike 3 or so more weeks of school left anyway i just need to hang on for dear life
