My daughter applied to the RHP program and she has not heard yet. She called Penny last week and was told that letters would be sent out the first week of March. It has been really hard to wait but we will survive! Do not worry Jenny, no matter what happens you will be ok.

I applied for the linguistics program at USC, but received a letter two days ago saying I that I did not make it. Better luck to the rest of you.

Thanks runbabyrun! Good to know when letters are coming, and hopefully I will come out unscathed. I guess it’s a learning experience either way.

Oh and links brought up the fact that we both received one of those spammy college e-mails from USC (I hate spam, especially since I put a fake email address on my PSAT and checked that I didn’t want to be part of the student search service. Collegeboard just used my online account for contact information :(). Anyway, mine actually had the exact same USC ID that I used to apply this time around which I thought was weird. Did anyone else get one?

Yes I did get that email! It was like, “OMG you’re awesome you should apply to USC!” and I was like… um I’m wayy ahead of you. I didn’t check the ID# but that’s weird if its the same, you’d think they’d realize that I’m already accepted if they use the same number, right?

links, sorry! I wish you could’ve made it.

We did not get the email. Sounds kind of random though but then we will probably get it tomorrow!

Ha ha! I got it too this morning, and my ID number was the same also. I decided to reply to it for the fun of it, telling them that I’ve already applied…I wonder if I’ll get a reply back…ok I really need to get back to writing my English essay. Happy posting!

So guys, the final round of letters should be coming in any time now. Good luck to all, and if you’ve already been accepted, well… pray for the rest of us :].

Good luck everyone! (:

I’m leaving for California tomorrow for Explore USC… I hope I like it there! Wish me luck at my interview!

Good luck! You’ll do amazing
Man, I’d love to be in California right now.
Do you guys get time to see LA?

So you guys are all currently Juniors in high school who applied to USC this year to be part of the Fall 2010 class? Man that’s crazy, you guys must be pretty smart. Good luck to all of you guys!!!

Thanks MagicalMalik! Anyone can apply so we don’t HAVE to be pretty smart (although most of the people on this thread, other than me of course, are).

I just called the RHP office and they said DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MAILED ALREADY. I’m really scared. I wish I hadn’t called; I haven’t stopped shaking since!

Hey! Okay so I just got finished with Explore and am now waiting in the airport for my flight! It was so much fun, and now I want to go to USC even more! And it was awesome, froggyonice and I got to meet and we also met a girl from Texas who’d applied. Jennie–just so you know, my student host (who’s a freshman in RHP) said that they hadn’t yet mailed the kids who were accepted but weren’t eligible for scholarships. I don’t know if that info is accurate, but keep it in mind!

I’m glad you guys had fun! Do you mind giving more details on dorm/food/campus quality? Thanks! Which dorm did you stay in? Hmm maybe the lady on the phone was confused but I’m pretty sure she said they were mailed out. I called on Wednesday but I have yet to receive anything so hopefully they’re coming soon! Do you know how many RHP applicants have been accepted so far?

I stayed in Trojan Hall, and the rooms are apparently fairly small compared to other dorms, but I thought it was decent in comparison to some of the UC dorms. The campus is amazing, and the food quality is good, especially if you go to the restaurants/cafes as opposed to the dining halls. As for the number of people accepted, there were about fifty people accepted, and over a hundred applied.

I’m the girl from Texas that hlfinsninsmnc and froggyonice met at Explore. Thanks for sending me this link froggyonice!

Well in my opinion the campus is BEAUTIFUL, I thought it was just amazing. I stayed in Marks (Hall? Tower? idk), one of the honors dorms, and I thought it was pretty nice (had a good common room area) and the dorms were just very dorm-ish. I only went to one food court, and it was decent.

And woo cgammon I’m glad you found us!

50 were accepted! Wow, that’s quite a few. Is that only the scholarship students or fifty total? And do you know if it was around 100 or well over 100?

Congrats cgammon! I’m glad you guys had a good time and thanks for reporting back! I still haven’t heard any news so I guess they’ve finished all the decisions but are waiting to mail them out. I’m getting antsy.

Anyway, how did your interviews go? Did you enjoy LA?

It was 50 total, and they’d only notified the potential scholarship students as of yet. And I remember her (Penny) saying something like “well over 100,” but the way she said it made me think she was exaggerating and it was more like just over 100. But that’s just my perception.

And my interview was okay, I guess… the people were really chill and nice but I was super flustered and I don’t think I made very much sense…

I really hope I made that 50! Did you guys have a special RHP meeting or something? I can totally relate; I always make no sense when I’m nervous.

Well, I called the RHP office today and apparently there were some delays in admissions and so RHP was not able to mail letters until today.
