Accepted as well! Did your acceptance letter mention your major at all?

@transfer1210 also accepted! Rice doesn’t admit by major. They admit to the entire university and you can declare any major besides architecture or music

Congratulations to Rice transfers already accepted. Good luck to those still waiting. For those accepted, please post about any communications you got from Rice as information for others still waiting. For those still waiting for a decision, be sure to answer any phone calls from 713 or 281 (Houston) area codes and check your email including SPAM folders frequently.

International Student from Mexican private school

I definitely did not expect this.

Is there a groupme?

Are acceptance rates unusually high this cycle or do we not have a highly representative sample?

^ lol that’s what i wanna know… also i’m confused, I didn’t know there would be waves? I haven’t gotten my decision yet.

All schools are dipping down farther than they normally would because a larger-than-normal percentage of people are taking a covid-inspired gap year in 2020-21. So if you had your heart set on Rice but had borderline qualifications, this was the best possible year to apply.

Did you apply for financial aid? If yes, how much did you got?

There is a closed admitted student Facebook group for the Rice University Class of 2024. It is has over 1000 members. If you are an admitted transfer, you can also join that group.

My acceptance letter says, “Admission was granted only to a select few…” but it doesn’t give specifics about how many applied and how many were accepted. Usually they accept 10%.

Also, if it helps anyone, we have to commit by May 22 (2 weeks).

There’s also an admitted transfer webinar on May 14. My guess is they might accept more during the next few days to allow students to join the webinar. Just speculation.

@fsdlfkjsdklfjs No. Schools rarely give out aid to international transfer students.

I applied to Rice with the mindset that I wouldn’t get in. I do think that Rice dipped further down into their transfer applications. Wouldn’t be surprised it if jumped over 20%.

@transfer1210 was the webinar invite included in your acceptance letter?
