Comments: Rice looks like a great school to be at, although I will probably not enroll (I was accepted at Caltech EA and will likely attend there, pending HYPS decisions next week).

Rice asks ‘what other schools have you/are you going to apply to.’ Being honest and putting all your schools down is apparently not a guaranteed rejection-- I listed all 15 other schools I applied to-- and got in even though I had not visited campus, had an interview, or shown any other ‘demonstrated interest’ in Rice. My ‘why rice’ essay was ok, but rather generic.

Congratz to accepted students, and best luck to future applicants, as well as to those on the waitlist.

accepted!!! 2260 SAT, 4.0 GPA unweighted, average ECs, no hook. just looked back at my commonapp account and was really proud of the essay and short answers i wrote for the rice application. i started crying when i got the e-mail (in the middle of a store…). i’m not definitely attending because i have to wait to see how other schools measure up with financial aid, but i’m so excited!!

Omg ACCEPTED!!! ill post stats in a bit! holy **** im flipping out. like i am in love with this school :DDD

I was accepted but I didn’t get any merit scholarships, so I don’t think I’ll be attending. It’s sad since I love Rice so much. I don’t even want to go to owl days because it’ll just break my heart. :’(

My son was accepted and was awarded a Trustee Distinguished Scholarship. To those of you rejected, dont be discouraged. Everything happens for a reason. To those waitlisted, don’t lose hope. To those accepted, congrats and welcome to Rice.

accepted with 18k/year trustee scholarship, i am beyond thrilled. seriously almost started crying when i saw the email and then the scholarship, i never expected it… still not sure if i’ll be able to attend but i’m so happy right now!

!!! I was accepted and awarded the Trustee Scholarship and the Century Scholarship…so psyched! I may post my stats in a bit.

[*] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m surprised and so happy.[/ul]

Accepted!!! I’m so happy
I’m glad that they put it right in the email!

I was waitlisted. I haven’t subitted my MidYear report to any schools yet (due to constatnly forgetting to do so). Would that be a reason for being waitlisted?

S was accepted with $36,610 scholarship. Still waiting to hear from few more offers from other schools.

zomggg!!! WAITLISTED ![]()
SAT was 2310 and GPA was 3.8 with decent ECs/very good essays

Ugh, I feel like my low GPA was the factor here. Ohwell

for those of you who think you did not get financial aid/merit scholarships… you have to choose your award year… it doesn’t default to that. choose 2012-13 and you will see your FA offer.

Congrats to all future owls. <3

Waitlisted. White, 32 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, decent EC’s, really good essays.

Eh, whatever. I obviously would’ve liked to get in, but it wasn’t my top school or anything, so I’m not too heartbroken. Congrats to all those who were admitted!

Waitlisted (bittersweet feelings)

SAT: 1900, ACT: 32, GPA: 4.2, Essay: Excellent, Recs: Excellent.
ECs: 4 leaderships positions, 2 jobs (caricaturist and tutor), renewed my school’s winter-guard, Honor Society, member of 2 clubs, 100+ volunteer hours, church choir.
Rigor: took every AP class I could, except sciences, scores ranging from 3-5s.
Extras: Hispanic/Latino, first generation, several national and local art awards, top 10%, #1 out of 357.

Accepted to Architecture major.

Waitlisted, which I’m feeling kind of happy about since I was expecting to get rejected, LOL! I’m not too bummed about it since it’s not my number one choice and it’s a hard school to get into.

posting for a friend

2400, 3 subject test 800s (m2 physics chem), taking multivar calculus, USAMO qualifier, district level swimmer got wait listed

tough life huh. I know he’ll make rice (and every other school that has rejected/waitlist him) regret it. one day they’ll get to suck on his nobel prize.

I got in though.
