Do they do it based on location? I’m from Cali and I haven’t gotten anything
Hi !
Has anyone been taken off the WL and received Merit aid ? I have no hope for need based as my EFC is too high. Sucks to be middle class with 3 siblings.
I don’t think waitlist students are considered for Merit aid.
Has everyone that has not gotten of the waitlist already submit their deposit for another school? I am holding out faith until tomorrow evening.
@waitgirl I have, I put mine down for Vanderbilt
Congrats. That is such an amazing school!
If you get in to Rice will you go over Vanderbilt?
Is anyone playing a D1 sport at Rice?
@Waitgirl Thank you. Yea I would definitely rather go to Rice if I got off the waitlist. Alongside Rice, I accepted waitlist spots at UCB and UCLA, all of which I’d rather go to than Vanderbilt.
Does anyone know if Rice will be coming out with decisions today or after May 1st?
I could be wrong, but I suspect Rice is waiting to see how many last minute commitments it gets along with responses to pending wait list offers before sending out another wave of wait list offers.
Waitlist decisions are need-blind and you can definitely negotiate for aid, but keep in mind that waitlisted students definitionally missed the cut for RD acceptance so you wouldn’t necessarily have a huge amount of leverage in your negotiations nor is there a whole lot of time for negotiations to take place. Best of luck though!
Did anyone on the waitlist get a call today from Rice?
Curious if there is a way for the waitlisted candidate to be looked at favorably for a transfer (next fall). If so how is this achieved?
Do you guys think the second wave of calls will happen beginning of w/o 5.4 now that they know the actual number of spots needed to fill 2024 class?
Rice’s waitlist is mentioned. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/01/us/coronavirus-college-enrollment.html?referringSource=articleShare&fbclid=IwAR2QA2cZXYNjgXejgq21ZP09BrRCm6K1fpZGZ400JoujaOSoHb7j9Sx99r8
I uploaded my LOCI to the portal a week or few ago, but it’s showing a little pdf symbol next to it, instead of the green checkmark like it shows for all other items. Is it supposed to be doing that?
@Onmyway27 yes the PDF symbol means that they have received it.
I just got a text that says “?Greetings [name] - this is [admissions counselor for my region] from Rice University. I will be reaching out to you later this afternoon and wanted to make sure this is a good number to reach you at. If there is a better number to reach you at or a preferred time please let me know (please include a time zone). Many thanks, [name]” ahhhh could this mean I’m getting off the waitlist
@djs2020 That sounds like good news to me. Let us know how it goes. CONGRATS
