Rice University 2024 Waitlist

Oh my god im an idiot and never sent my css profile! What do i do now?? I’m working on it presently, but will i get an aid offer by this friday??

@“blackbelt2.0” Congratulations on being admitted to Rice. Call or email the financial aid office, tell them you just got pulled off the wait list, and see what they need. I bet they will work with you. Admission and financial aid are done by separate offices.

Anyone from PA yet?

Is there an option to get an extension for the enrollment deadline? I don’t think my parents will let me enroll unless I have a financial aid offer.

@“blackbelt2.0” did you ever run the Rice net price calculator? That should give you a rough approximation of what financial aid you will get. Did you fill out the CSS for other schools? If so maybe Rice can use that CSS until you get all of the documents to them. Contact admission about an extension on time to respond. With wait list admits, they may be less lenient as time is short.

I’m from PA, but still waiting

for me, I sent a loci a few days after decisions came out. A week ago I emailed my ao a question about the waitlist and also asked my counselor to email rice about my grades (no official reports yet)

I’m assuming texas people have already found out?

While rice people are here I was wondering if Rice accepts at-home AP test credit

Do you mean credit for AP courses that you studied on your own rather than taking a class in school. If so, yes Rice takes the AP credit if you get a 4 or 5. Check the list here for the credits given in 2019-2020. https://registrar.rice.edu/sites/g/files/bxs751/f/2019%20-%202020%20AP%20EXAM%20LISTING.pdf

@Houston1021 no I meant the new online AP tests due to Covid, sorry for not being clear

I imagine Rice will treat it like any other AP test.

You can enroll and pay the deposit to keep your spot while waiting for FA. You need to do CSS quickly. Once Rice gets it, they processed it really fast.

To those of you who have been admitted from the waitlist this week, how long did they give you to decide? I assume they will hold off on making more offers until they know how many will accept - wondering when another round of calls may happen.

They gave me about 4 days to decide.

Correct, you absolutely must pay the nonrefundable-under-any-circumstances deposit if you want to keep Rice as an option, whether you’ve received FA information or not. These kinds of situations are the precise reason why Rice clearly states on its website the date by which applicants who plan to consider FA in their decisionmaking must submit the relevant information to the university.

It might seem “mean” for Rice not to allow people to delay for a few days/weeks while their FA information is processed. But from the university’s point of view, every day’s delay increases the chance that whoever is next in line on the waitlist will give up on Rice and accept admission somewhere else, which means your “replacement” if you say no gets worse as time goes by, which isn’t in the interest of either the university or the entering class. Rice does the best it can and sets the most lenient FA deadlines it can, though.

@infinitemela6340 thank you so much and congratulations!

Just declined my waitlist offer. I hope it goes to one of you. Y’all are amazing! Good luck!!

Where are you heading @djs2020 ?
