RIP Barbara Blaine, Founder of SNAP (Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests)

This woman was amazing. It’s sad she died so young.

Wow, I’ve never heard of her or this organization. I’m glad one exists though.

May she rest peacefully.

Bumping this thread. Today, the Diocese I lived in as a teen released their list of priests and lay persons accused of molestation, going back as far as 1944. Kind of a shock to find a (now deceased) priest of our tiny local church on the list. It seemed like people liked him, and I don’t know if any of the accusers were from our parish, but it is remarkable to see.

I’ve never heard of them releasing names before. That is a step in the right direction.

I finally watched Spotlight. It’s very good. It mentions SNAP.

She did a very hard thing, taking that issue public in those days. May the Lord rest her soul. I find it sad that she rather literally died of a broken heart.

I followed that scandal (really, scandals, plural) closely and it is the most horrific thing.

Wow–what an awesome woman and what a lot of lives she touched and helped! So sorry for all she and to endure!
