Beau Biden, son of VP Joe Biden has just died from brain cancer. Very sad.

So young, so sad. It is the worst parent’s nightmare - to outlive your child.

Very sad. Don’t forget that VP Biden already lost a daughter and his first wife many years ago, as a result of a car accident.
I really don’t think I could fathom losing two children, but I know someone it happened to (my sister-in-law’s mother), and she has survived. I just can’t imagine.

I agree. We had a relative who lost a 2 year old daughter to CF, and then a 5 year old daughter who was hit by a car and died. I don’t know how she functioned. Her H became an alcoholic. She has been a rock.
Just heartbreaking. I had forgotten about his earlier losses. My heart goes out to him and his family.

There is a good article about him in the NY times. Apparently, Joe Biden was sworn in once at the hospital by the side of his sons (they were also injured in the car crash that took the lives of their mother and sister).

He seemed like a really great guy. So tragic.
How heartbreaking. I think it’s easy to dehumanize our politicians and other public figures. This is a very stark reminder that they are real people, real parents, etc. My heart goes out to him and his family.

What a tragedy. Im sure Beau’s wife and children are grieving horribly. It makes you wonder how much tragedy one person can handle when you hear about the car crash and death of his wife and daughter. My deepest condolences to our vp.

How very sad. I remember the original accident from when Biden was a young senator in DE and the first wife and daughter were killed and the two sons seriously hurt. Sorry to hear this - and i’d say the same for any member of any political party.
Bidens always seemed to be a really tight family. Joe for thirty years while in US senate rode train home 2 1/2 hrs almost daily from DC back to Delaware so he could be with his family evenings.
