RIP Prince?

It is being reported that Prince has died at age 57. :frowning:

“They beautiful ones, they hurt you every time”

The Purple Rain tour was my first concert. Sheila E. opened for him. He definitely made his mark on the music world.

Wow, I didn’t believe it when I got the alert on my phone.

Not confirmed yet anywhere I see, but many news outlets reporting it. I’m hoping this is a time they are incorrect, but… :frowning:

I don’t think it’s been officially reported yet but he was hospitalized with the flu recently after his plane had to land early for medical reasons.

Makes me wonder if he had a heart condition, either caused by a viral illness, or exacerbated by one.

The Purple Rain tour was my first concert too, in 1984. My husband and I just splurged for tickets to see him in Oakland in March–he was magnificent. Very sad news.

Appears confirmed. I’d like them to be wrong!

They just confirmed it. Too young… wonder what happened :frowning:

Prince was brilliant.

His halftime show at Super Bowl XLI was the best ever.

So very sad.

RIP. :frowning: that’s so sad!!!

I started listening to him early on when we both were teens. Huge talent.

It’s been a tough year for music icons.

I saw him in 1984 as well. RIP.

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.” (Hope I got that right, feel free to correct)

In 1980 I was sitting in the DJ booth at a friends night club in Hollywood. I noticed that a very small guy who seemed genuinely odd and very very intense come up with an album. My friend already had it and played a cut. The crowd went crazy. It was Prince. A month later I saw him open up for Rick James. No doubt the best pop performance I ever experienced… True genius.

I am beyond sad.

Too many favorites to list: Housequake, the ENTIRE 1999 album, Do me baby, …

Electric word life. It means forever and that’s a mighty long time.

Perfect quote, PG!

We were friends with a guy in the early '80 who introduced us to Prince’s music. Our friend predicted that Prince would be a huge influence on music and a real groundbreaker. How right he was.

Prince was only 57. So very sad to lose him so young.
