VH1 is showing it several times between tonight and Sunday.
There is a special edition of 20/20 about Prince this evening.
I’m glad that he was still alive to read Billboard Magazine last year naming his performance as the best ever Superbowl halftime show. And he was up against big gun candidates like Michael Jackson, Madonna & U2.

Still feeling very sad. I wish for respect for his family and friends as they grieve the loss of this extraordinary person. The sheriff just stated that he was alone and that there were no signs of foul play. The autopsy is complete, but no results will be released for several days. http://www.startribune.com/investigation-underway-into-prince-s-death/376741561/
@GMTplus7 - That halftime show was the best!

"Ugh… reading very disappointing news this morning the recent hospital stop in Illinois may have been due to a drug overdose
Although I don’t necessarily consider TMZ a credible news source, a lot of times when it’s about entertainment people, they have it right."
TMZ actually is a pretty credible news source for the area they cover. The head of TMZ, Harvey Levin, spoke before the National Press Club about how they broke the Michael Jackson death story it was pretty intersting from a news gathering perspective. Their TMZ Live show is pretty " newsy" The show today gave a long discussion of infirmation from the airport and hospital sources in Moline Illinois. They employ former cops who know how to get information from police sources and have Good contacts. They pay their sources but have pull back provisions if the information is false. They rarely get it wrong. Plus they are very self aware. Once when they" broke" a story on Michele Obamas shopping at a certain store right before Fathers Day a staffer speculated that they might have spoiled the surprise gift for the President. Harvey Levin: “If the President watches TMZ this country is in more trouble than I thought!”
TMZ was the first to report his death… they got that right over all the other news organizations.
^^^^. TMZ has excellent sources, especially in police departments. They have reported that Prince went multiple time to a Walgreens this week and was seen pacing outside waiting for an Rx adding fuel to the speculation that some sort of perscription drug overdose is at issue. They also reported that these issues may stem from a dependence on painkillers after hip surgery a while back.
I love me my TMZ.
yeah, they’re not going to win a Pulitzer, but they do their niche very well.
I saw Prince at a small venue in 1980. What a show!! That little dude was unbelievably sexy in concert. Both my H and my D texted me when the news broke of his death … we are all so sad. I just love the Chevy memorial ad for Prince … very, very classy.
I watched the live version from MTV of I Would Die 4 U today. Fantastic performance that went on for over 8 minutes. An unbelievable entertainer. I can’t imagine being a major celebrity dealing with medical issues, pain, possible painkiller addiction- having paparazzi looking at you and noting how many times you went to Walgreen’s and wondering what you were doing there. Sad that he died alone , that possibly those closest did not realize just how bad things were. Of course, we don’t know for sure what happened though, whether anything by anyone would have saved him. I liked how both the sheriff and medical examiner spokesman noted essentially that he was a celebrity but also a member of the community and a good neighbor. And that the community is heartbroken.
SNL is doing a special tribute in a few minutes of all his performances on the show.
Private memorial service for a private person. I don’t think he would have wanted it any other way.
I really enjoyed his songs. Still trying to figure why I feel so incredibly affected by his passing. I guess I was drawn to his unbelievably epic creativity and his unparalleled low key personality.
Sleep well Prince Rogers…
My favorite Prince performance, showing what an amazing guitarist he was (a tribute to George Harrison at the RR Hall of fame, I think the day Prince was inducted): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y
Prince performed non-stop and had a double hip replacement at a fairly young age. It wouldn’t be so surprising if prescription pain killers became a way to keep going. Everyone who knew him has said that he lived a pretty abstemious lifestyle in terms of drugs, food and alcohol. Maybe he just had a stroke or a heart attack. It happens to people in their 50s.
@zekesima: ^^^WOOH! WOO-HOO-HOOO!
That made my whole darned day!
Prescription painkiller addiction is an insidious burden and has its claws around a lot of people we would never think would look like a stereotypic drug addict.
I am still in shock. When MJ and Whitney died I really wasnt shocked. I sort of expected both of them to die tragically. I also wasnt a huge Whitney or MJ fan, but Prince, that is an entirely different story. When Van Jones broke down on CNN, I cried too.
SNL replayed performances from 3 or 4 appearances last evening. Some amazing guitar playing, dancing and showmanship. Next to that kind of talent, the repeats of Fred Armisen’s “the Prince Show” seemed awfully lame. To me, at least.
I agree, @MidwestDad3, I tuned in to catch parts of SNL last night and turned it off during “The Prince Show” bits. Didn’t seem funny nor a worthy tribute.
