Ripstik

I might get a lot of hate for starting this discussion but I’m going to ask it anyway. As a kid my step brothers got ripstiks and I stopped for a while since they moved away and I didnt have access.I’m a senior girl in high school and I recently decided to pick it up again just for fun and for its maneuverability (I got a used one for cheap). I’ve gotten so into it that I am considering using the ripstik as a mode of transportation in college if I have a long ways to go between classes or am in a hurry. I would love to go the penny route but unless I get one as a gift I am not buying one. I have looked into a kryptonics torpedo as a penny substitute but its a bit of a gamble since its so cheap.
Anyways, I just want to weigh the pros and cons of using the ripstik. I don’t really care if it looks dumb, although I don’t really swivel and I’m assuming that’s the main reason why people say it’s ridiculous. I like going down hills and carving on the ripstik and if I had money for a longboard I might not even be able to handle the speed to be quite honest. The only negative I see is that I won’t really be going up hills with it because it is more of a hassle than walking but do people on pennys walk uphill too? I do like how it is easy to carry, larger than a penny but still pretty transportable. My main thing is money and if its worth it to get a cheaper longboard or penny and if it is, is that even any different from cruising on a ripstik?
