Rising Freshman- Which Schools?

I am a rising freshman in North Carolina. I lived in NH pretty much allll my life and the schools where I live now kinda really SUCK. So last year I took the Jan. SSAT. I didn’t study or anything because I didn’t think I would want to apply to boarding school. My results were:

verbal-69
math-74
reading-87
total-79

I sort of applied to Exeter on a whim and obviously didn’t get in.
I don’t have a ton of extracurriculars because i swim for almost 3 hours every day.

I’m looking at
Exeter(again)
Andover
Deerfield
Groton
Lawrence
St.Pauls

which other schools should I look at that I could actually get into? But also, my dad only would be willing to pay maybe 4-5,000 a year. So yeah.

If you are applying to such amazing schools, your test results definatley need to be in the high 80s and 90s. I know that if you make 75,000$ or less a year (as a family) you can go to exeter free. they have a thing on their site that ccalculates how much FA you will probably get. But those schools usually only accept someone who has lots of extracurriculars and amazing grades.

u should also look at choate…but thats just my opinion
Welcome to CC!!!

Take a look at Mercersburg. I think their swim program is tops, and your ssat scores are in target. While you would still be far from NC, it is closer than New Hampshire. Do you mean Lawrence Academy or Lawrenceville?

I second looking at Mercersburg and I also think you can pull up those SSAT scores with a bit of preparation.

Our family got a very nice FA package from St Andrew’s in Delaware - they pride themselves on the use of their endowment for financial aid - and the school is excellent. They have swimming available, but I don’t know anything about the program. I know at Mercersburg you can swim year round.

I am getting a tutor over the summer and all of that stuff. would that help?

Mercersburg? where is that?

Mercersburg is in Pennsylvania, about three hours west of Philadelphia or two hours north of Baltimore, MD. It has a beautiful campus, but it is not close to any large cities.

Check out their website [Mercersburg Academy](http://www.mercersburg.edu/)
or read reviews on Boarding School Review.
