Has anyone heard of the strings programs at the Mercer University in Mekon, GA?
I believe this is a center affiliated with the music department of the university. They accept about 26 students annually, one of the faculty from Jacobs school of music from IU teaches over there. How recognized is this program? is anyone familiar with it? Thanks
It’s been years since you posted. Have you decided to go to Mercer? How would you describe music education there for violin performance career? Not a whole lot of about Mercer esp its graduates.
Did your student end up pursuing a performance degree? Or did they pursue another path? I’m also wondering about McDuffie and your comment has me wondering if the program is not a good option to even consider.
Yes. My child is pursuing performnace degree along with CS since this is going to help with my child’s desire to be at the intersection of both.
It is the hard truth that its challenging to break into professional scene. Just talent is not enough. It is based on when and if a spot opens up in a major orchestra at the time of graduation.
