The partnership is part of Rolls-Royce’s plan to build a $100 million jet engine manufacturing plant in Prince George County, which was announced Tuesday by Gov. Timothy M. Kaine. The deal also brings UVa a new research center, renovated lab space and expanded undergraduate offerings, among other benefits.

The Center for Aerospace Propulsion Systems will be headquartered at UVa and facilitate research in accordance with the needs of Rolls-Royce…</p>

<p>In addition to the three new engineering professorships at UVa that will be funded by the state under the partnership, UVa is planning to hire eight more engineering professors, Johnson said…</p>

<p>The McIntire School of Commerce has an existing relationship with Rolls-Royce. The company is one of the four sponsors of the school’s third-year curriculum, the Integrated Core Experience.
