Romani Jr is on the way

I checked in with the genetic counselor today and I should hear about results Friday or Monday (most likely Monday since the lab is on the west coast). I also have my 20 week anatomy scan on Monday where we’ll see if everything’s developing as it should be.

I’m quite grateful that I was around my niblings when they were all first born and for a bit after that. I was never around babies growing up and helping to take care of them was eye-opening. I know it’ll be different when it’s mine but I feel infinitely more prepared than I would’ve been without them.

@romanigypsyeyes What will help you through the ups and downs of the early stages of motherhood is having a supportive spouse who will jump in and help. Given your husband’s chosen field of work, I’m sure he’ll be an equal partner. I was very lucky to have a partner who was all in and loved babies.

Ah yes. Mr R got to get a cranky almost 3 year old and 2 almost one year olds ready for bed tonight while the moms and I were cleaning up dinner. He did it, successfully, but it was very very amusing to watch since they’re all mobile.

Ah, yes- H was fantastic when baby had colic that time. This thread is bringing back so many memories.

Sorry you’ve been ill @romanigypsyeyes! Hope you’re fully recovered soon. I’m sure you, Mr R and all the loving network you’ve cultivated will have so much fun with your little Jedi!

Romani, you said you appreciate the challenging stories and I heard a really crazy one last year. I got a new rescue dog and texted our old dog groomer, who comes to the house in a little dog grooming van. She’s great! And all the dogs love her.

It had been about 2 years since my older dog had died so she made an appointment with me and then added this (paraphrasing): just to warn you, I look really different now. A few months after your dog died I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy and months of chemo. I’ve lost all my hair. Then, a few months later I got the most surprising news - I’m pregnant with twins! I’m due in late May but the docs want to induce me early for health reasons.

Well! She came over and she looked great! Positively glowing with health, hair that was short and wavy and beautiful, and a little round belly. She ended up doing so well that they didn’t induce her early and her little twin boys were born a few days after their due date. She has two older children and thought the medical treatments had made her infertile. You just never know what your body can do!

@greenwitch that’s amazing! I’m so glad that she and the boys made it through healthy.

One of my good friends just found out a few weeks ago that she’s pregnant. She was diagnosed with cancer about 3 years ago (the type escapes me right now) and started aggressive chemo. She finished and was declared cancer-free about a year and a half ago and as soon as she was cleared, they started trying to get pregnant.

She and I started fertility treatments around the same time and it took her a few more rounds to get pregnant. But everything is looking good and her health seems to be holding. I’m so happy for her.

She’s had a hard time growing hair back and jokes that she looks like a boy. She said maybe the pregnancy belly will stop people from assuming she’s a boy lol. (She has wigs, she just hates wearing them.)

Amnio results finally came back. No detectable abnormalities including everything they can screen for because of my Ashkenazi background.

I’m so relieved.

I have my anatomy ultrasound in an hour and now I can’t wait to truly enjoy watching baby.

Something to be “thankful” for this week - good news!

@romanigypsyeyes , what a relief!

We have “known you” for so long that we worry about you like one of our kids.

Yay for good news!

So glad for you and the baby!

Wonderful news!!

Ultrasound went great. Everything looks good. The heart looks great.

It took them almost a half hour and two techs to get the specific heart thing they were looking for. It’s the same thing I have to go weekly for. The baby never stops moving, just like how I was.

The baby has a button nose. No one in either of our families has a button nose lol. The tech said it’ll probably stay like that.

Great news, @romanigypsyeyes!

Button nose? Did he/she resembled anything made out of snow??

When did you change your avatar, @romanigypsyeyes ?

@jym626 today. Picture from the ultrasound

LOL, yes, @romanigypsyeyes . Its pretty clear (meaning apparent, but the picture is pretty clear too) what it is

@jym626 sorry a little out of it lol. I’m having a hard time sleeping between pain and constant bathroom trips. It’s going to be a long second half of the pregnancy.
