Romani Jr is on the way

@romanigypsyeyes , I agree. I would NOT expect you to be writing thank you cards under the circumstances!

You need to focus all your energy on getting well.

OK… I was shooting for, I think April 6th. You don’t have to wait that long… Can’t wait that very soon I will see your thread and the little Jedi will have arrived ??

My mom’s birthday is in a few days and my sister’s April 9. I’m think baby will come between those two and really hoping they don’t come on my sister’s birthday ?. My mom would love a birthday buddy. My sister’s still hoping the baby doesn’t come in April at all lol

And thanks for the words on the thank you notes. It’s been a hell of a month or so.

The important thing is we have the essentials for baby. They have a sleeping space, diapers, formula, clothes, blankets, and we have their hospital bag packed. Their room isn’t done done but the crib is up and we have a pack n play if needed.

Oh and something i put on FB because people kept asking me what it’s like to be pregnant right now:

The good and the bad of being ~9 months pregnant in the era of COVID-19.

Pros: this will make a cool story one day (especially for a medical historian!); (Mr R) unintentionally has paternity leave now since my doctors don’t want him exposed to his clients- especially after we got the flu last week and I ended up in the ER; I’ve made a lot of local connections through mutual aid resources that I never would’ve explored before. We’ve been so lucky to get a ton of formula from neighbors as it’s running low at stores.

Cons: only 1 - MAYBE 2 - people at the hospital while I’m in labor; only 1 person allowed when baby gets there; looking more and more likely that we’ll have to have people meet Baby O via facetime for the first several weeks since we’re starting to get more information about the complications newborns face (though it’s still mostly unknown how it affects newborns because the n is so low); I had to spend a ridiculous amount on hand sanitizer because I could only find it in bulk.

We’re going to meet with my MFM on Monday to get the latest word on recommendations for whether or not we can have very limited visitors. Right now, it’s not looking great but the most important part is to keep Baby O healthy - something that was already going to be challenging even before the virus hit.

My niece was due April 3 and had to be induced this week week. Baby and Mom are fine and home now. No visitors in the hospital and my sister and brother-in-law can’t go see the baby yet.

Good luck to you!

@cap congratulations to all of you! Glad everything’s OK.

Unemployment is not federal but a state program and benefit. States make the decisions and set the rates. In times of high unemployment the feds give money to the states to supplement state funds, but the program is always state run.

@twoinanddone I’m not sure why I called it fed unemployment. I think I was thinking of the fact that he doesn’t qualify under the expanded fed laws (his company has > 500 people) but Michigan has expanded it to include his situation.

Probably a brain fog moment and I forgot to delete a word.

Does this site allow posting pictures? Can’t wait to see our CC baby!

Okay. So if they induce April 10, and you squeeze your legs together for a while, my April 11 prediction still has a chance!

my guess is 4/4/2020, just cuz it’s a neat number

@bookworm…I picked 4/4/2020 way back on Feb. 5!

I pick April 3rd. 3 is one of my favorite numbers. Funny how that happens…

There’s a legit medical reason they target to induce the week/date they do, in Rom’s (or similar) circumstances.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where I read that. But no one really should be hoping for a date based on any other personal reasons. It’s something about higher risk to baby(liver?) as more weeks accrue. It was presented as a necessity to induce at point x.

They’re hoping for the date based on a natural birth date lol. I don’t think anyone is pushing for an induction date.

We’ll have a little flexibility if/when we schedule but when exactly they want us to aim for we’ll find out on Tuesday. (I have an ultrasound on Tuesday so to minimize the number of trips we take, they moved my MFM appointment to Tuesday. It was supposed to be tomorrow.)

When it looked like my liver numbers were a little more stable, they tried to get me closer to 39 weeks. But I don’t think they’re going to let me go that long now.

I’m putting the odds at about 30% that I have a baby by the end of this week. (Naturally)

also scheduled inductions are all at 8 PM. So whatever day they induce, the next day will probably be b-day.

It’s so wonderful to be anticipating such a joyous event in the midst of everything that is going on. Can’t wait for the big news!

So it looks like your having an Aries. Gotta tell you. Some really cool people are Aries ?.

This even describes me, I mean some people to an"T"… Plus my favorite color is red. (almost every Aries I have met favorite color is red… Very spooky) Mars is red. You will get the correlation.

Rom, just to clarify, I meant posters or whoever’s pulling for another month And clearly you have great docs. After your issues with liver numbers, it’s not always beneficial for either of you to try to carry past the original term. Thereabouts.

I’m sure you’re on top of this. And those highly competent docs. The time flew by. Excited for you. And, thanks for letting us share your journey. xx

@Knowsstuff my mom and sister are both Aries and could not be more different people lol.

It’s funny. Both Mr R & I are borderline babies. I was born on the border date of Capricorn/Aquarius and he was born on whatever is in late October. Baby’s due date was border of Aries/whatever comes after. I don’t believe in astrology but it was a funny coincidence.

For those who have seen pics of the baby room (and for whoever was asking, no we can’t post pictures but I’m happy to PM them if you ask), the constellations painted include Aries and Taurus because we didn’t know when baby would come. (And then some other ones the artist just liked lol)

Oh yes and I think we’ve settled on Ren Alexander for a boy.

No special connection to Alexander, we just liked the way it sounded.
