Everyone except Mr R’s dad thinks he looks like Mr R too lol. He’s got my nose but mouth, ears, and hair are all dad. Not quite sure about eyes yet. They look like they might be my shape but they look like they’re going to be brown like dad’s.
Mr R is visiting him in the NICU now after we slept probably a solid 12 hours this morning. I had gone about 36 hours without real sleep and he probably had 5 hours or so in there. Ren was admitted to the NICU at about 2 this morning and he’s doing GREAT. He is off his CPAP-type machine that was helping him breathe and is just on some nose oxygen.
He will be in there until tomorrow early afternoon while they finish his IV antibiotics. But other than that, he looks great. Nurse said he’s the healthiest baby in the NICU
Mr R got to feed him today in the NICU so he’s off IV nutrients and his feeding tube. Mr R said he REALLY likes to eat lol.
So we should have about 5-6 hours of having him in the room to ask questions of the nurses and whatnot. Assuming all goes well.
Now I’m just monumentally bored since I’m alone lol.
TWELVE HOURS of sleep?! That’s amazing! It’s also more than you will get at a stretch until Ren is a teenager, so revel in it now. Again, congratulations on your beautiful boy!
NICU nurses and respiratory therapists are the best. They’ll have him all sucked out and ready to go when you get him back, maybe with his own little canister of O2 as a parting gift.
We’re used to seeing babies need O2 here in Denver at 5280 feet above sea level, but my own NICU baby came home without O2 - of course it took her 13 weeks.
Congratulations to the R family! So happy for y’all. This thread is a desperately needed bright spot right now! Welcome, Ren Alexander, to CC. I hope to follow along on your college journey here in 17 years.
I don’t think he was actually reaching for it, I think it was just how the pic looks lol.
But I’m calling it practicing his force abilities
We’re both set to be released tomorrow early afternoon! I’m ready to go home and hold my baby. I had him for about an hour after birth and I haven’t seen (in person) or held him since. Videochatting is the most amazing thing to us right now though.
Mazel tov! You’ll have much to put in the baby’s “time capsule” and plenty of stories to tell about “the year you were born” May he bring you much happiness and delight!
Congratulations! New chapter. Remember those pregnancy hormones take time to disappear, and your body changes daily. When they say two weeks before driving they mean it! Of course you will stay safe at home until the pandemic eases. Enjoy the daily, weekly, then monthly changes. So much happens the first year! Much, much better than the pregnancy months. Thank goodness for two parents.
