I got an email the other day, saying that I was randomly selected to participate in a “pre-run”. It said that all freshman will be able to fill out a questionnaire at the end of May, but that if I participate in this “pre-run”, I’ll get to fill it out earlier and have someone guide me through it and stuff. Idk if I’m gonna do it… has anyone else gotten this?

I didn’t, but I know a kid who did. Looks like a pretty good deal if you ask me.

i got it. they said they’d also give us some money for the bookstore?

yeah, $25 to the bookstore. We have to reply back by tomorrow, but I think I’m just going to do it when everyone else is. I’m not sure, but it looks like applying early would limit our roommate options or something.

Woah! Lucky. Wish I got chosen to be in the “pre-run.” Heck, I’d want a $25 to the bookstore. That’s half a sweater!

Dude, WHAT IF I end up getting a roommate I can’t stand? I had a horrible dream about it last night and I ended up packing my bags in frustration and sleeping on a bench out in Sixth’s quad. I’m paranoid.

i had a dream that my friends brother (who goes to ucsd) was my roomate along with some guy i had never met. our room was actually just a converted hotel room. when you walked out the door you were 10 steps away from disneyland. when you walked back in one window faced “the harbor” and the other faced the ocean. yeah. thats why i want to make sure i fill out my questionaire truthfully.

Yeah. In my dream, my roommate was Andy Milonakis. 'Nough said.

that would be HORRIBLE. no wonder you were so shaken.

What are the chances for freshmen to get singles? :)?

depends on what college you are in syneria

For Warren Freshman, its a 50% chance Mostly Freshman in Residence Halls, and in each suite, 4 singles and 2 doubles; aka 50%.

I’m in Muir. I guess 50% is a great shot. Really hope that I can get a single!

chances could actually be better than 50% because you get the choice of single or not. some people are not going to choose single due to money. then, out of the people who do sign up for it, it’s a lottery. so good luck. haha.

Since generally, the res halls are primarily 1st years and the apartments are 2nd years, there’s a very good chance that most res hall singles will be filled by 1st years. Anyone that requested a single due to a disability will have the first shot though. At least they’re not doing triples like UCLA!

rate saver = triple. but yeah, chances are higher. but even if you get a double it can have advantages over a single. each has advantages and disadvantages. i wouldn’t be bummed if i got a double.

I wouldn’t be bummed if I got a double. As long as I can tolerate my roommate, that’s fine. A triple, however, has a higher potential to drive me crazy.

now, having a double would not have as many advantages if you and your roomate didn’t get along or one of you hated the other. the advantage of that would be to learn how to get along with someone AND sleep right next to them without tearing each others heads off, which could later on help you learn how to get through fights with the wife or husband.

I actually kind of want a double. I’m afraid I’d get lonely otherwise. I’m not worried about not liking my roommate…I’m worried about them not liking ME.
