^^And they thought we were wild in the 70s LOL. Maybe there will be a retreat to the “members of the opposite sex must have one foot on the floor at all times when in the dorm room with the door shut.” Perhaps I’m alittle outspoken, but if I were a student and my roommate started it up while I was in the room, I’d be yelling “get the heck outta here and go somewhere private!!!”

Just keep a video camera handy with automatic Youtube upload capability.

I think if they’d just go back to the single sex dorm floors it would get a little bit more sane. Just my opinion.

All this happened when I was in school in the 70’s. There is little new when it comes to young men and women with their own rooms out of the house and from under prying parents.

I guess yelling “get a room!!!” would not work in a dorm situation when roomie and other went at it! :(

All this happened to me when at was at TUFTS in the 70s! Maybe if I’d complained then, I would have saved generations of students from wondering whether they should find another place to sleep!

Minor edit–I survived and have even seen the roommate a few times in the years that followed.

It took me years to realize that I should have said “get a hotel room” I’m slow, but I have this advice at hand for my D. ;0

srb…kudos to you for not stepping in. it’s hard for us parents to see our kids go through these things, but just remember that you probably hear the worst of it while your D vents to you on the phone. the reality is that kids are more resilient and industrious than we give them credit for sometimes and if we just simply ‘let go’ things have their own way of working out. (even if it means some sleepless night) …hang in there!

Plenty of opposite gender sex happened in single sex dorms.

Oh, I know. ^^^^^ Actually, I was horrified by the whole co-ed dorm floor idea, but it’s really been just fine. I have two daughters and I thought it might be a little bit strange, but D has gotten to be quite good friends with some of the boys in her hall and I think she really likes it, actually. They have a lot of fun.
