My son applied a couple of weeks ago. RHIT is his top choice.
3.88 u/w, 4.8 w GPA
9 AP classes
1490 SAT
National Merit Semifinalist
Math tutor
Decent ECs in band and one sport
Did Operational Catapult last summer
Intended major: Math
He didn’t want to apply anywhere else other than Rose, but we made him pick some additional schools as back-ups.
It’s my son’s 2nd choice. He did operation catapult in summer of 2023.
A friend’s daughter goes there for mathematics and loves it!
4.0 unweighted, class officer, sports, service, but low test scores
Glad to hear your friend’s daughter is enjoying the math program! And best of luck to your son!
S25 was just admitted. Rose is his top choice. I’m so excited for him, but the scholarship was less than we were expecting. He got an offer of $23K. I thought they would also give money for Operation Catapult, which is what we’ve heard from other parents. We will make it work, but I wish he had received a bit more.
As for stats:
1490 SAT
3.8 UW/4.8 W
National Merit SF
I encourage you to reach out to Rose about the operation catapult scholarship.
Also, the Road2College compare offers tool that lets you input your child’s stats and merit offers was very helpful to us last year. )And it’s free if you put in your child’s data.) You can see the merit offers that other kids with similar stats received, to help you figure out if there may be any wiggle room.
If you show Rose merit offers from other schools, they may re-evaluate your child’s offer. They did for us and awarded a little more money. They also offered a one-time additional $1,000 if we would go ahead and commit. This was during the FAFSA debacle, so I’m not sure if it will be repeated. So if you don’t have a compelling reason to commit right away, you may want to hold off and see if they will increase the merit award.
This is really helpful! Thank you!
My daughter also received her acceptance today with a merit aid of $28500. They mentioned that there are some other scholarship opportunities to apply for in the portal.
Congratulations to your daughter!
Same - my son got in as well with 27k as scholarship. Was hoping for more. Its a back up school for him. Heard its very rigorous.
Would anyone be willing to share their kid’s stats?
My daughter has …
1500 SAT
4.5 GPA (school only does weighted)
13 APs including 4 in senior year
Math Peer tutor
Engineering PLTW all 4 years
Works part-time, lot of service hours.
Very well deserved! Thanks for sharing!
Son got acceptance letter today. Major mechanical engineering
He was super hyped because RHIT was on his top 3 list.
Weighted GPA 4.4
9 AP classes
Intership with aerospace local firm
1 year varsity cross country and mostly physics, math clubs
Merit aid came a bit low - 23K
My son attended Catapult as well. How much of scholarship is that? Do they specifically mark that as scholarship for camp attendees?
My son got admitted for Mechanical Engineering.
3.9 UW
1550 SAT
Internship at civil engineering form
Lots of volunteering
Trumpet player in multiple musical groups and ensembles, state awards for this
Admitted with $27000 merit scholarship.
Congratulations to your son! My understanding is that the Operation Catapult scholarship is $2500 per year for four years. At least this is what was offered in past years. This was on top of the original merit offer. My son reached out to Financial Aid yesterday to ask about it, and I’m happy to report back.
My daughter got admitted to CS with 28500 as merit. Looks like that is towards the top end looking at this thread. First decision for her so very excited.
Stats:
1500 SAT
4.36 W
APs and good amount of ECs
This is a backup school as the distance is not ideal. Also wondering about the low female ratio. Any thoughts on that from others would be great!
Congrats to all admitted! My S25 was admitted w/28.5k merit also. His major is math. His stats: 3.96 UW/4.86 Weighted GPA, ACT 34, SAT 1520. Has quite a few college-level math credits already. Lots of EC’s and APs, part time job, etc.
Right now, Rose is a bit lower down the list, and it is a bit of a “different” choice for him because there are so few math majors there. He is generally looking for more of a math cohort, but the amount of individual attention he would probably receive there as a math major has some appeal also.
