Royal wedding discussion - Princess Eugenie & Jack Brooksbank

I imagine it was beautiful IRL. It’s sort of like satin dresses. Even celebrities with the flattest of stomachs seem to have one with the shadows of satin.

They really should have taken photos when they tried on the dress to spot just this issue. The dress photographed terribly. It was probably pretty in reAl life. Such a shame.

As to the family photo - I was glad for Eugenie that her mother and grandfather were both able to act civilly and not overshadow her day. In all reality, this may be one of the last family portraits taken - after all, Philip is 97 and Elizabeth is 92, so I am glad for her (as a mother) that she got this one.

I don’t know why Camilla didn’t attend. Maybe it was true that she could’t reschedule the prior appointment. I do know that my own SIL deliberately scheduled her wedding for less than one week after my due date with one of my kids. She picked her date in my 5th month and she knew my due date. Ha ha for her - I delivered three weeks early and we were there. I do not believe that Eugenie did this as I read she actually had to change her planned date to accommodate Harry and Megan. Perhaps Camilla would have been there on the original date. I know that Charles hates Fergie and is resentful of Andrew, but he seems not to be taking it out on her daughters.

On another note - I saw an article in People which referred to Andrew as the Queen’s youngest son. I guess Edward just vanished from the family?

People is not exactly known for its top-notch journalism; I’ve seen many reporting errors over the years.

Charles is the one who doesn’t want them to be Princesses. I’d say that’s taking it out on E & B. The Queen is allowing them to retain their titles.

They all seem to hate Fergie. Except Andrew. I’ve heard rumors that Fergie and Andrew will remarry once Philip dies.

Charles does not regard them as part of the inner circle and does not feel that they are needed to carry out royal duties, and therefore should not be entitled to the security details and housing allowance accorded a “working royal.” Nobody (at least in the legitimate press) is suggesting that Charles wants them stripped of their titles. And again, all of it is speculation.

Last I heard Sara and Andrew live in the same house. Or some house.

When someone said Camilla and Sara don’t get along, I re-checked. It depends on what source. The media likes attention over accuracy.

And afaik, both B and E are involved in philanthropy.

I loved Eugenie’s dress. and I am sure the detail was beautiful IRL. Not so much the second dress, but as you all said, it could be the picture. I think E is pretty, but B is not. I want to find her pretty but cant. I think the queen was pretty, I didn’t when I was younger. I don’t think Anne cares about that kind of thing.
I liked Diana but know that she had issues. however, she was young , damaged and traumatized by her childhood. In some ways she was used, and Charles just didn’t get or care about her needs. what young girl wants to go on a honeymoon and read books of his choosing. they both had unrealistic expectations. It was sad. She has changed things and helped her children.
I think if you are born with a title, you should keep it. I am not clear on the financial aspects. But it is her blood lineage and her children’s lineage.

I wish there was another picture of the second dress, because I suspect it looked better IRL than it did in that particular photo.

I liked both of Eugenie’s dresses much better than the 3 worn by Barbara Bush for her recent wedding. https://people.com/style/barbara-bush-romantic-wedding-weekend-dresses/

I like Barbara Bush’s dresses. She is a decade older than Eugenie and was married in front of less than 25 people. I thought her choices were great

I think Bush’s dresses would have been prettier with a different choice in bustline. Neither of those were flattering.

Sorry, I am not a fan of two of those three dresses of BBush either—I don’t find the plunging necklines on the two white gowns to be flattering at all, even if the lines of the dress are otherwise attractive. I’m glad that she liked her choices tho, and that’s all that matters.

I wish her the best, they look very happy together!

But I’d pull up those bustlines too.

What you really, really don’t want to think about is a woman with a figure like Eugenie’s in Barbara Bush’s dresses.

Having a shape like Eugenie’s can be really quite restrictive. Barbara could have worn Eugenie’s styles but not the other way around.

Both of B’s dresses would have looked so much more flattering with the right bra/support. Take home lesson: ladies, don’t skimp on support for your girls even if you are not “well-endowed.”

This baby hysteria is going to be hilarious. Personally I think the York girls should thank their lucky stars they have a semblance of normality due to distance and the onslaught of all sorts of speculation about this new kid LOL.

^^Yes!!! The right bra can make all the difference.

A friend I have wasn’t too happy with Kate’s wedding and esp. reception dress back in the day, because she didn’t think the seaming was done well for a small busted woman. I don’t have to wonder what she’d think of Barbara’s dresses!

I don’t think Eugenie has a difficult figure to fit. Most women would fall out of Barbara’s dresses. Her wedding dress reminded me most of the one that Carolyn Bessette wore when she married JFK jr., but that one was a bit higher. You have to be slender for a dress like that, but it bothers me to see an expanse of bony ribs above a bustline. For some reason, it make me feel like I’m cold.

I thought she looked anorexic.
