A crisscross halter top would have been so much more flattering.
I thought the same @mathmom.
Sorry to be blunt but imo, the Bush issue is she’s flat chested and the low neckline on the white and those mini cups on the flowery accentuate that. She loses the balance in the look. But again, I wish her the best.
Not sure I’m seeing the 3rd dress. Is it the black one?
Eugenie looked amazing - even more so when one considers the stuff she has worn in the past - usually ugly or not fitting her body type well! She nailed it.
@lookingforward - I think the third dress is the one with the little flowers added to the bodice and a purple ribbon. It might be best not to see all of that one.
By contrast, in one photo she’s wearing a shirtdress that is very flattering.

I wouldn’t have easily recognized Liv Tyler. I love Cressida’s dress! Who is Poppy Delevigne and what is on her head?
ETA - don’t miss the crazy dress on the woman behind Liv Tyler.
The fit of Eugenie’s dress was a hundred times better than the fit of Meghan’s.
Very classy look, and I agree with Momtofourkids. Nailed it.
Is it me or did some of the princess’s guests’ dresses have a longer hemline than we have been accustomed to seeing? Is this a new trend starting?

The midi is making a comeback.
I like Barbara Bush’s wedding dress with the draped neckline, but that floral number with the lace trim is a disaster. Why would anyone want to make their breasts look tiny but sagging? A woman with her figure has so many flattering options available; why pick that schmatta?
I thought Eugenie looked stunning; I much preferred her dress to another recent royal bride’s! Slightly OT - if true, I think it’s in very poor taste that Harry & Meghan shared their ‘baby news’ on Eugenie’s day. Poor girl, she’d already had to move her wedding date to accommodate them…
Lol! So easy to get lost who got married and who got pregnant… so many of them!
I agree , Harry an dMeghan should not have shared the news at the wedding. I understandhow Andrew feels his daughters get slighted.
I did not like BB dresses. I always liked her.
Someone please educate me - I’ve read countless comments about the poor fit of Meghan’s wedding dress, and I’ve never been able to figure it out. I’d love to know specifically the area(s) that are judged to be ill-fitting.
I think people have misinterpreted the story about Meghan and Harry’s baby news, thanks to the Daily Mail and its usual propensity to stir up trouble. The pregnancy was announced to the family well before the wedding; the statement indicated that the wedding was the first opportunity for some family members to congratulate them in person.
Her dress looked like it was a bit too baggy around the waist. It wasn’t smooth. Your explanation of what probably occurred with the pregnancy announcement makes sense.
Her dress also did not fit well across the shoulders and armpits.
Thank you, I’ve gone back and looked at photos to check those specific areas. I can see some wrinkling which I guess is where the baggy appearance comes from, especially around the armpits. It seems pretty minor, but I suppose with a super expensive dress like that and the eyes of the world upon you, it should be 100% perfect in terms of tailoring.
I still love Meghan’s reception dress the best of all the wedding dresses !
Meghan’s dress was some kind of super expensive heavy silk, but it didn’t look that way in the pictures. It almost looked like a foam material at times. I did think Eugenie’s was better fitted and draped.
I agree it was the material. But I feel that’s just the way it was, much like saying some fabrics are clingy. And then, in the case of E’s 2nd dress, too clingy across (or under) the boobs. I think (and am firm in this) that Meghan’s material simply has this limitation and that’s that. Starchy or thick fabrics do not conform the way lighter silks can. Satin is often an issue. But IRL, it probably looked lovely. Some details that smack us in the face in a photo just aren’t noticed by the human eye, in the moment.
Which brings me to my own complaints about E’s dress. Ahem.
I’ve made four wedding gowns in my life and a dozen bridesmaid outfits. Here are my thoughts.
Megan’s silk was VERY heavy. The bateau shoulders were supporting a lot of weight, and it looks to me like the waist was not pieced with a separate skirt. That will also affect the shape and how much sculpted tailoring can be done. If you sit for a while in a silk gown, it will wrinkle! Not many brides sit for a significant part of the ceremony these days, so that’s not as big of a consideration – especially since reception gowns have become more popular.
Eugenie and Kate both wore gowns with a fitted, pieced waist and skirt. Megan is very petite – the softer lines suited her better, IMO.
For the record, I liked all three, each in their own way. Megan’s and Eugenie’s dresses had a much more modern sensibility.
