RSI 2006 Introductions

when shall we leave RSI?
I will get my ticket 2morrow and i need the exact date of my departure

i’m leaving aug. 5th at 6ish, i wanted to stay as late as possible. btw, i noticed last year that ramoni had two rickoids work in his lab, did anyone else get an email from gil. if so, pm me, it would be nice to know whom i will be spending a good amount of time with (:

I’m not sure what time i’m leaving on Aug. 5th; my family’s coming out and we’re going to stay a few more days and sightsee around Boston.

No I haven’t even started logicus  (Aren’t we reading the 1831 edition?)I’ve read it once before, but it’s been so long that I don’t even remember how it starts anymore.
vmarinov and jadk, have you recived your handbooks yet?
Maybe they just want to dilute the math/science concentrated summer we are going to have with the humanities classes. I don’t know why they would want to do something like that ;)

I don’t even like humanities but I had a special spot for humanities class at RSI. I think it’s because it was my first RSI activity (besides opening convo), and everyone takes it together, rather than just 1/4 or 1/6 of the RSI class (like all your other classes). Plus Lance Rhoades is a cool guy.

oh oops, it is the 1831 edition. I guess I confused myself there( I picked the edition that occured less times in the book store)

we’ve all recieved the handbook now haven’t we? (I think I even saw you on the mass introduction email)

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t very clear. I have received the handbook but I was just wondering if internationals had, because I thought their questions were addressed in it. This is yet another instance of my unconcious assumption that people can read my mind. You can’t, right?

Hi everyone
I’m new to the forum, Im from Lebanon and my name’s Adi. I hope I’ll be able to go to RSI this summer

Sorry to go back to the mentor topic again, but I haven’t gone on this thread in a while. If I call CEE, would they let me know who my mentor is?

They might not even know.

Yes, and if they do, it’s up to your mentor whether or not to contact you. Honestly, don’t worry about it! You haven’t slipped through the cracks or anything, even though it may be a bit nervewracking for now.

Where do most rickoids matriculate at?
It seems like MIT/ Harvard are the predominant choices. I was sort of wondering why some of you didn’t choose Yale, Stanford, or other top colleges.

cuz MIT and Harvard are better ;)

haha jk well i mean they might be (in my opinion they are), but it’s also because there are a lot more research opportunities at MIT or harvard than any other place, and on top of that, you can work at whichever one you want if you matriculate at one of them, so it’s really like 2x more opportunities.

plus boston rocks.

plus mit/harvard own.

P.S. Some do choose yale, stanford, and princeton. just not as many.

some even choose caltech, hard as it might be to believe ;)

…and obviously many other great schools.

Hey everyone – I just got emailed that my mentor will be Dr. Hee-Young Park from B.U. I found out that she was a mentor in 2003, and was wondering how I could get in contact with Sarah Marks from 03’ to find out about it. Thanks

I PMed you.

Thanks zogoto. One more question: Can I bring my bike to MIT? I am going to be going to BU every day and thought it might be more convenient if I could bike there, but wanted to find out if it was possible. Thanks

Hello RSI-ers :)

A while back, I got off the waitlist (I think) :stuck_out_tongue: but i couldn’t go, which is horribly sad. sniff
I’m going to SSP instead for more than one reasons.

Anyway, just wanted to peek my head in and say hi  and wish you all a happy and fun RSI…:P

What? RSI going to alternate list?

So there is still a chance that all the alternates will not go and then CEE will have to resort to accepting people that they denied…

how much stuff are you guys planning on bringing to RSI? like, how many suitcases?

Also, do any of you former Rickoids recommend bringing a sleeping bag?
