Rsi 2013

people, we are getting notifications in the next two weeks.

@weiscool do you mean you asked RSI and they will notify you in a few days?

Yes, notifications coming in the next two weeks!

@cantelopemelon,
I don’t think RSI would tell you earlier, because that would be unfair to other people. And you dont want them to be forced to give you their decision when they dont have it yet. I suggest you make commitment to the local one that accepts you first.

Another option would be to ask the local program for an extension.

Okay thanks. Ah I’m so nervous. Seriously doubting my chances…

Hey, RSI & Clark Scholar applicant here. I am wondering, is anyone here going to Intel ISEF this year? Or has gone last year?

I meant that my local program wouldn’t release their decision for a few days, not RSI :smiley: I also highly doubt that the RSI program will tell you if you got in or not early… very nervously awaiting their decision! Few to none from my state have ever gotten in…

@Dreamhuge, we’re getting our results within 2 weeks?! How do you know?! And @cantelopemelon, it doesn’t hurt to ask. The worst that can happen is that they won’t tell you. It’s not like they’re going to rescind your acceptance because you wanted to know their decision.

I live in an area with no close internship or local research opportunities…if I don’t get into one of these programs I’m not sure what I’m going to spend my summer doing to enhance my scientific pursuits. Any one have any ideas? Resources are limited where I live but I’d be willing to search long and hard for materials or guidance.

@offsitecoco, maybe beg for a volunteer position in a lab/hospital lab nearby… probably what I will end up doing. My area is full of fertilizer companies and genetics for crops, for instance. Spam email every person until you get somebody to relent XD

UnbanAgrasin, most people end up working in their local university/college, and partner up with a professor working on some kind of project. There are some people however that work from home. I didn’t work with a professor, I did home-based research. You don’t have to have a mentor, and but sometimes, you could use one if you plan on doing high level research.

Ultimately though, the projects that succeed are the ones in which students masterminded the overall project. I’ve seen countless complicated projects conducted at professor’s laboratories that involve cancer and such that haven’t qualified to go to ISEF.

@wanttogetinbadly
Yes, I asked. They said they will try to send out notifications in the next two weeks. :)

I got in!!! Oh my goooooddddddd!!! Rsi 2013, hell yessssssssssss! I am participating as international, but am wicked happy! Oooooooo mmmmyyy goooooodddddd

huh? internationals found out already? … o.o

Congrats! :smiley: Think the US kids will know soon…?

Thank you all!

Actually, CEE does not select Internationals. CEE selects representative agencies in each country (these agencies are generally Scientific and Research Councils). And, these agencies in each country conduct selection for the RSI. After, the selectees of each country are notified to the CEE. (But I had to write those lengthy essays and send them to the CEE as well, LOL, I think CEE does this just to ensure the student’s quality. No, I am not bragging, please don’t criticise me.) I am a physics olympiad guy. We also have a placement exam just like PSAT here (I was in the top percentile) and my UW GPA was 4.96/5.00. I also had some extra-curriculars including intern at an engineering company and establishing a community service club in school.

P.S: I would like to thank LuoSciOly for his/her tremendous help, answering each question of mine and enlightening me.

@hangooksaram

I think they reach internationals before, because they need information for visa etc. The fourth sentence in the admission e-mail was asking my passport information! :)

Congrats toughman! I guess they’ll be sending out results for the rest of us sometime soon =O

Thank you! I am not even informed about my mentor ( I don’t know if this is generally the case, lol). I think they are going to write me in detail at the time they inform you. So I think yes, you will probably be getting your decisions soon.

BEST OF LUCK EVERYBODY :slight_smile: !

P.S.: SELECTEES, PLEASE CONTACT ME. I WANT TO GET TO KNOW EACH OF YOU! :)
