@toughman
congrats! It is a great program.
On the mentors, some people found out about mentors weeks after being accepted, some did not find out until they got to RSI. Don’t worry about it at all, either way you will have a great experience.

@collegedad2013
Thank you! You actually made me feel a lot more comfortable. I assume your son/daughter attended the program. What were his/her comments about the RSI? What did he/she like the most?

I would be pleased if someone enlightened me about the daily schedule.
Hours of daily research, etc.

Yes my DS attended

What did he like the most? Sorry for the cop out but the answer is everything
It was great for him

In terms of daily schedule there was a great blog written last year I don’t have the link but hopefully you can find it via google.

Remember that people’s schedule was often different depending on whether you are doing lab work or a math or comp sci project for example.

@collegedad2013

Awesome! I want to get in a time capsule and travel forward to 23rd of June. (Actually, I was told to be there on 22nd :S)

Did your son also get into MIT, like most Rickoids?

@toughman: ohh I see. Congrats!!!

I really hope the rest of us find out soon. O: I’d rather receive the (inevitable) rejection sooner rather than later ._.

Congrats to the international applicants who got in. Anyone know when US acceptances and rejections will be sent?

Also, are many people waitlisted? And about how many of those who are waitlisted ultimately admitted?

Website says by March 31, but hopefully sooner.

@jokolomo: I don’t know the exact number of waitlisted applicants, but last year I believe zero people were admitted off the waitlist. This is not always the case (I know at least one was admitted off the waitlist in 2011), but the number of applicants admitted off the waitlist is always very small.

They are sending out notifications to everyone in the next week!

@dreamhuge how do you know? Did you have specific contact with someone?

I contacted Maureen Palmer about the issue and she said:
“As indicated on the Center for Excellence in Education’s (CEE) website [Apply to RSI | Center for Excellence in Education](Apply to RSI | Center for Excellence in Education) the 2013 RSI Scholars will be announced by March 31, 2013.”

Did you hear differently?

@Miami24,
I don’t have specific contact with specific someone. I just emailed the contact lady as listed on the website (not Maureen) and got the answer that they are notifying every applicant in the next week.

I very much hope to be contacting you to get to know you before RSI, but the likelihood is that I will not be. Please keep us all updated throughout your experience. Even if I do not go, I still want to know what the research process and life at MIT are like.

Have fun, and congratulations!

EEEEKK. This means I will be constantly checking my email during school hours… ehehe. I am almost expecting rejection since this is such a tough program, but it is killing me to wait.

anyone else accepted/denied yet?

WeIsCool, I know exactly what you mean. I too will be checking every half hour on my ipod, with high hopes but reminding myself to not expect much.

also, i highly doubt results will come out in a week. there is no way that they could have thoroughly reviewed 3000+ applications yet, especially considering that they start in mid-February.

Anyone want to contact CEE to corroborate this?

Also - whoever contacted them, did they mean by the end of THIS week or by the end of NEXT week?
