“Congratulations on your outstanding academics and accomplishments! You are invited to enroll as an honors student and Rutgers University - New Brunswick this fall”
Oh, I see what you are saying. He only applied to the Engineering program, so it must be that one.
@Bromptonboy also it is possible he only get honors academy as opposed to the college. For you to know whether it is program or college he needs to have access to the portal
Got it now. I will ask him to check.
He is having the same password issues that others are experiencing. We will just have to wait.
@maggiedonlevie The honors college is seen as more prestigious and has more extracurricular opportunities (i.e. research) and housing options (especially for the first year) and a larger and better community overall with their multiple advisers and its own separate advising center and etc since its a large community . The main similarity is the opportunity to do honors coursework
Another big perk of the honors college is the minimum $10k scholarship a year while 1/5 of the honors college receives the presidential scholarship ($28k a year, which covers all expenses). In honors program no scholarship is guaranteed
Are the honors announcements done via school? Would school of nursing be separate?
one D got an email and other one didnt…sad sad/happy happy
@Tictacmissus so basically the honors college is the “better” opportunity? Does the $28k scholarship cover out of state students?
@gingerspice40 It is done by school but I know for a fact the nursing program doesn’t participate in the honors college. I am not sure if the nursing program has honors at all
does anyone know if the school of pharmacy has honors college? Also, is the offer good for all years you attend rutgers?
Also, which portal is it? Thanks!
@maggiedonlevie yes however it is much more difficult to get into for good reason. The reason it is so prestigious is only top 500 students out of every school are invited to attend.
And $28k covers all expenses of an instate student. I have this scholarship as an instate student and only have to pay $2k or so including housing and food because SOE is more expensive but I also have $1k for NMSC. For out of state I think $28k might cover tuition but I am not sure
Edit: it covers almost all of the tuition In-state 14,974 USD, Out-of-state 31,282 USD however I know some out of state people got an extra $10k in scholarships last year through “diversity” meaning that they are oos so are a minority in a sense
My portal is fixed!!! got into honors college for pharmacy and SAS!
What does it say if you got into the HC? HP?
@Tictacmissus , does that mean merit money isn’t given for nursing students?
@gingerspice40 They probably give out merit money but I am not sure how their process works as they have their own system
Got into Honors Program SAS - 35 ACT, certified EMT, Eagle Scout, leadership positions, regional awards, plays several instruments, a lot of philanthropy, including a humanitarian award.
I didn’t get honors college
What is your sat score / gpa?
Did you apply for school of engineering?
