Rutgers Honors College 2020

Got in to HP for SAS and SEBS
I know I should be counting my blessings, but for some reason it feels like my soul’s been crushed.
SAT - 1550
GPA - 95.0 UW 99.21 UW

Got into Honors college for Pharmacy, Engineering, and SAS :slight_smile:
Now waiting for merit patiently. Worth the long wait .

Son got into honors college for engineering, business and arts and sciences. He is undecided about his major. Would he pick one of those if he accepts Rutgers?

Daughter got into HC for engineering and SAS.
HP for SEBS. Waiting for the merit AID.

S got into Honors College and Program for RBS.

Son got into HC for school of Engineering and school of arts and sciences.

My son just got into the Honors College for SAS, but he still hasn’t even gotten an admissions decision for SOE.

I am sad, I didn’t get into the Honors College and I get it, I’m not the smartest. (1490 SAT, 3.6 GPA). But I feel emptiness because I worked really hard in high school. My GPA was watered down because I took so many AP/ Honors classes, and now I’m going to be with people who never tried in high school. I feel like my work went down the drain. I shouldn’t have ever tried. Does anyone else feel like this???

All !!!

S17 accepted at Honors College at RBS - NB ( Rutgers Business School) , and SoE (School of Engineering - New Brunswick ) . SAS he did not get Honors college, instead received admission to Honors Program.

Very happy & excited !!! We are hoping for the financial awards that should follow in a week or two.

Just an FYI, we got the information today from the Rutgers Portal.We checked the Portal and the honors college ( 2 invites ) and 1 invite for the honors program were there.

Most certainly S17 will opt for the Honors College.

Wish all others the very best !!! We are super excited

@destinedfordestitute I don’t think that’s true at all - my child didn’t get into Honors College (he got into Honors Program) and he has a 4.8 gpa, 35 ACT and is an Eagle Scout and certified EMT. There are A LOT of kids who worked really hard who didn’t get into Honors College. I don’t know why would you think that students who didn’t get into Honors College “never tried in High School.” I think you are very misinformed.

Would someone be able to post the link to the portal?

@TwoFabKids
I understand that, but I also feel frustrated that my hard work has not payed off. You cannot deny that I will be sitting next to someone who never tried in high school, partied, took no AP classes, etc . In the honors college, I would at least be with people who have a similar work ethic like mine. My friend never did her homework, failed all her classes, AND still got to the same place I am. So what difference does it make that I sacrificed sleep, social life, and mental health for grades? I think I’m just sad and angry because I feel like I could have slacked off and had fun and still end up where I am.

@destinedfordestitute There are people who still party and fail their classes in the honors college. There are always going to be people like that everywhere.

@Tictacmissus
I guess, but the honors college does take the top 7%, so they are obviously all intelligent. I want to be part of that because I know that if I surround myself with hardworking students, I will maintain good grades and a strong work ethic. I just feel cheated because I studied hard in high school and ended up where everyone who slacked off did.

@destinedfordestitute I thought my son did not get in because he didn’t receive an email. I found the link to the portal and had him login. It turns out he did get into HC and the email went to his spam folder. Hopefully that is the case with you. My older son is a junior in the SOE. He did not get into honors. That doesn’t mean he is not smart. He currently has a 3.7 gpa and he has made the dean’s list every semester. He is majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering. He worked as a tutor for the school last year and is a Learning Assistant this year. He has friends that are in honors and others who are not. You will find a group similar to yourself.

Can someone post the link to the portal?

@destinedfordestitute That is not true at all!!! All of your hard work did pay off. One decision does not dictate your entire life. The good thing about college is that there are so many different types of people with different work ethics, different learning styles, interests, etc. All the work you put in during high school will pay off because it has taught you a great worth ethic, which will bring you so much farther in life than just HC. You’ll go far in life, one decision does not define who you are.

I had applied to the Rutgers-NJMS BSMD program; and got accepted as honors student at Rutgers New Brunswick. I got invitation to apply to the SAS honors program; however I did not apply. What is the difference between HC and Honors and how do I find out which one did I get?

I completely agree and participate in your frustration. I am the salutatorian in my school with excellent ECs and didnt get honors college. May be, they figure who would truly accept and attend vs who wont?

Anyone able to post the portal link?
