When I checked the portal, it listed Honors College for both schools he was admitted to.
Do you only get an email if you are accepted?
My understanding is the Honors College is more competitive (harder to get into) than the various Rutgers honors programs. But I am not 100% sure why this is the case.
There is an FAQ that kinda explains how they are different: https://honorscollege.rutgers.edu/information/frequently-asked-questions
When you click the link, what does your Honors Portal Say…Does it say School: Rutgers Business School Program: SAS Honors Program? in that case you are in the Honors Program and not Honors College.
Here is a FAQ between Honors Program and Honors College:
https://sashonors.rutgers.edu/faq/2377-frequently-asked-questions
@MontyChild Those who just didnt make the cut for Honors College get the Honors Program. Both are similar but Honors College is more prestigious but not to undermine the Honors Program also…both are cut above the rest!
@parent2001 when u click the Link of Honors Portal what does it state?
Has anyone heard from SEBS honors program?
LOL, I guess I got bad information about this Friday or next Tuesday- I did say take it with a grain of salt. My kid was admitted to Honors College for the College of Engineering and School of Arts and Sciences .
what percent of people that got into rutgers make honors college? also what percent make a school specific program?
@CS_Parent when I go to the portal. It lists both schools he got accepted to. And next to each, under the honors invitation it lists honors college. This is a cut and paste of it… School of Engineering Honors College
@CS_Parent what percent of people that got into rutgers make honors college? also what percent make a school specific program?
I am totally confused as to whether I got into honors college or not. I got the email, I applied for 3 schools:
SAS: SAS Honors Program
SOE: Engineering Honors Acaemy
RBS: Honors College (and it links to honorscollege.rutgers.edu)
Does that mean I only get honors college if I go to RBS? If I get accepted to HC from RBS, does that mean no matter which school I go to, I’m in HC?
@therealnemis . This is how it works. The top 8% of applicants (as rated by Rutgers) from each school (ex. Business, Mason Gross A&S , Engineering, EBS, - all except nursing) are invited to Honors College. The next top kids outside of the 8% but still really high get invited to Honors Program (or honors academy for engineering). Based on what you posted above, to be part of honors college, you must accept the Rutgers Business School admission. If you enroll in SAS, you didn’t get accepted to Honors College, but you got the next best thing, Honors Program. If you enroll in the engineering school, you will be part of the Honors Academy (that’s the name of their honors program), not part of honors college. Hope that explains it.
@7T01R01 yes I heard from sebs honors program
@desie1 As rated by Rutgers, how? Not just test scores?
I got into the SAS Honors Program — would I lose this if my major was in RBS and my minor was in SAS?
@Propinquity4444 No, not just test scores. They use a holistic process. Test scores are very important, but so are grades and the other parts of your application.
Just got into Rutgers School of Engineering Honors College!
I got into Honors College for SEBS and Honors Program for SAS! Unfortunately, RBS didn’t offer me either which is my top choice school.
