Rutgers Honors College acceptance 2019

I got into the honors college at SAS and SEBS. I actually forgot about all this Rutgers Honors stuff until a friend told me to check yesterday; was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

Hello All, here are some FAQS:

  1. Top 8% get an invitation to Honors College thru either of the shools ie RBS, SAS etc. If you get Honors college invitation thru any of these schools, you will need to accept Enrollment into THAT particular school which invites you for Honors College.
  2. Next 8% get Invitation to Honors program in Particular schools ie SAS Honors Program either thru SAS or RBS or School Of Engineering has its Honors Academy. Once again you will need to accept Enrollment into that particular school which sent you invite for Honors Program.
  3. Hope this explains…Congrats to all those who got into either 1 or 2 or even got into Rutgers itself!!

Do you have any detailed information on the various Merit Scholarships. I see where it says Merit based Scholarships from $3,000 to $27,000 and talk of a free ride. Yet there is little description of what is offered and just how many are offered.

I know that some Honors College students get the Presidential Scholarship (which is almost, but not quite a “free ride.”) I think last year it was $27,500 per year. And I remember last year the Honors College admits that didn’t get the Presidential received something else (Trustees?) and that was $13,000 per year. The lowest I think you can get in Honors College is $10,000 per year.

is there another batch of invitations coming or was this it?

@Zahhhhra All honors invitations are out now. Check the Honors portal https://em.rutgers.edu/honors_regions/login_nb.aspx to see if you have been invited.

THe worst part about Honors and MErit scholarship is that its School specific. For all you know, you may want SAS but you may get Honors Invite from RBS and Scholarship from SOE…stuck without the Buck!!

does anyone know when this week merit and financial aid will come out?

I don’t work at Rutgers, but I believe that merit and financial come out on the same day, and it should be in 1-2 weeks.

Did anyone here also apply from a school that didn’t rank them and got accepted to honors college?

I got into Honors College for SAS and SOE - Will I receive the same merit scholarship offer from both schools? Or does the amount differ for each, even if I got Honors College for both?

@zf1379 I did and @wekjjslfsd they might be different even though you got honors college for both

@zf1379 yes. My sons school doesn’t rank and he got in.

Is the honors college campus specific? My daughter was accepted into the SAS honors college, but we don’t know if this applies to the New Brunswick campus or the Newark campus.

@bachstra AFAIK, the Honors College only applies to New Brunswick.

Congrats to all!

How bad a commute or ride on bus is it from the honors college building to the campus where all science and engg classes are.

The honors college dormitory is on College Avenue Campus. Remember, however, honors college students are in that dormitory only for their freshman year. I believe most of the classes for first year engineering majors (calculus, chemistry, physics, intro to engineering, intro to experimentation, intro to computers, engineering mechanics) will be on Busch or Livingston campuses. The bus ride is not too bad- maybe 5 or 10 minutes. It may be that once you are on Busch campus, you will have all of your classes on Busch.

@fire227 oh I thought they could stay at the honor college dorm all 4 years

I understand Honors College Dorm is only for first year. Housing is guaranteed for all four years.

Financial aid awards are out!!!
