@Fire227 are aid awards out for everyone? Did you receive an email telling you that your award was available?
I didn’t get an email but just logged in. They are out. Not bad for me. I’m OOS so it seems they gave me merit to equal the difference in OOS and instate.
“You are required to submit additional documentation to complete your application for financial aid. If you recently submitted documents, please allow 7 business days for processing. You will receive an email notification when your Award Letter is ready.” Yet I have no idea what documents (did not receive any email about it, already submitted FAFSA back in November)
@MontyChild - my son received an e-mail, and he logged into his portal and saw the aid awards for SAS and SOE. SAS gave more merit scholarship money than SOE.
So @Fire227, I should wait for an email, and the message I am getting is b/c the award is not ready yet?
Any instaters get merit assistance? Just logged into the portal and saw no merit for SAS but just learned that my son got accepted to SOE (which had been waitlisted earlier). So some good news came out of it. ??
$13k merit scholarship for RBS
It’s the top 5 percent that are accepted to Honors College
@MontyChild - I don’t know the answers. Maybe some information was released today and there will be more.
My daughter (international student) got into Honors College from rbs sas . She got the james dickson carr scholarship award of $10k/yr. covers ~20% cost of attendance. Very excited. But she is still undecided. Keen on uf where she did not get into honors and chances of scholarship limited. Any advise. Wants to do business (finance) major…
What is UF? We took a tour of the Honors College and was very impressed. The opportunities include - designated internships, research, travel, distinguished lectures and to be among the best and the brightest. It is a true honor that your daughter was accepted.
Congratulations! RUTGERS awards merit scholarships to the top students
The Honors College awards merit scholarship as well as the Honors Program
Uf= university of Florida. Closer to extended family…thanks, I really do believe it is the best option for her. But will respect her decision
So im highly disappointed. I didnt get anything from the honors college or honors program. On top of that I didnt get any merit or aid, just loan of 5.5k. I got into RBS, SAS and SOE. Here are my stats
1470 SAT
800 SAT II Math 1
Class Rank 23/718
Good amount of extraciriculars and activities.
Is this normal? My cost is coming to 28k and after loans its 23k. I did fafsa and css but didnt get any aid. I also heard of some Scarlet Scholarship my friends have gotten. Was there ever a chance of me getting into the honors college or program?
The average SAT score for honors college is 1530. Student accepted to the honors college was awarded merit scholarships. Please note that your acceptance to SOE and RBS is fantastic! These are difficult programs to get into. So despite the lack of merit scholarships, you are receiving an excellent education. Also Rutgers rarely gives out merit scholarships
@Fire227 - Just curious…where did you read that Honors College students have 4 years of guaranteed on campus housing? My understanding is that the only students that are guaranteed housing for 4 years are the recipients of the Presidential scholarship. Everything I’ve seen about housing after freshman year in the HC dorm, is that there is a lottery for Honors housing - no guarantees.
Look at the website Honors College and continued housing. The Honors College dorm is for the freshman class. After the first year, students have a choice of dorms designated for honors. The dorms are listed and you could view the photos. They’re nice
Is there a guarantee? I don’t know but I think the students are given preference
@4caboose-- I did not read about guaranteed housing. My son and wife who sat through an honors college presentation recall that they thought they said housing was guaranteed for honors college students. I read the information on the website, and I tend to agree with you. Probably best to check with the Honors College to see what is the correct answer.
