Rutgers University Early Action for Fall 2025

We received the email to activate NetID but still we cannot activate it. How did you confirm the SSN in the portal? Not seeing where we can do that and it just lists the SSN as Xs (xxx-xx-xxxx).

I got deferred and updated my SRAR with S1 grades as requested. They don’t appear to have a LOIC form or essay request,
should I upload one of my own?

Finally was able to activate NetID this morning!

Still can’t activate NetID here

Finally was able to activate NetID.

Does anyone have merit award info yet? If so, where do you find that info?

I was wondering about this too. Do you see a place to upload additional information?

When I wasn’t able to activate NetID I submitted a service request. I got an automated email message that included info on merit and aid, and it says it may not be available until early March:

Congratulations on your admission to Rutgers-New Brunswick! For the fall 2025 term, we received over 77,000 first-year applications, a 90% increase over the last two years. With this record number of applications and the competitiveness of our applicant pool, you should be very proud of the admissions offer you received.

Honors invitations, merit-based scholarships, and need-based financial aid information will be available by early March. Email notifications will be sent to students who qualify, directing them to online resources for further information.

Is there any application for merit scholarship? OR, does RU just select the merit scholarship recipients?

No separate application, Rutgers is not known to give a lot of merit, mostly just for honors.

Merit is likely for Camden and Newark. Not that common for NB other than Honors College $.

Around this time last year, people started hearing about Deferred statuses turning into Acceptances (basically between now and March). Have any Deferred students heard anything this cycle yet?

I haven’t heard anything. I updated my grades in SRAR the same day I got deferred but it still shows as an empty checkbox.

Same for my son.

We (OOS) attended a Rutgers Business School session at New Brunswick yesterday in which both admitted students (possibly one or two deferred students based on questions that were asked specifically about deferrals) and prospective students/families attended. As per the presenters, the acceptance rate has come down to 28% for New brunswick (unclear if it was Business school specific or entire NB). The Business schools received around 24k or 26k (can’t remember exactly) applications. Deferred students still have a good chance of admission, more so for non-business/engineering/nursing majors. All regular/deferred students should be hearing before the end of this month- could be on a rolling basis it was mentioned from now to end of Feb. At least for the business school, the waitlist is already 2400! Bottomline, Rutgers has become very competitive and no longer a safety school even for NJ students with good stats. With this many application, GPA, class rigor, SAT/ACT scores, AP scores , EC’s are key determinants as per AO. Essays- they really don’t have time to read most of them with 80K applicants other than honor applicants and maybe for some deferred students. It is also possible to transfer from Newark/Camden to New Brunswick after a min of 6 months or 1yr of appropriate course work for those who still want to be in the Rutgers system. Good luck to those still waiting!

Is anyone good at portal astrology? What does it mean when the “withdraw” link disappears?

Most likely a final decision has been made. My kid is accepted
 no withdraw link anymore
only enroll now or change enrollment (for Newark - he has declined the offer). Good luck.

My son’s withdraw button disappeared a couple of days ago, but they are still showing one item missing (it’s not, but they were having trouble reading his transcript). I am not sure if it’s indicative of anything or they removed the button for everyone after a certain date.

I was deferred and now one of my major choices has changed into review
