When did they send this? I never got one and only applied to one school
My daughter did not get an email. Application still in review
D24 did not get this email, but has a friend who did get it. We are thinking that a lot of people will be shocked by their results this year. Fingers crossed for good results for everyone.
Agreed. If Rutgers got 44% more applications this year due to opening up to the Common App, in-state students will see a lot of deferrals or denials. We are in-state and last year, our S23 with decent stats was deferred at both the Engineering and Business Schools. He ultimately got into Enginnering as RD but was waitlisted for Business. This year, for our S24, we have applied to many OOS schools as Rutgers will be even more competitive. Itās possibly no longer a safety for in-state kids.
Itās my educated guess that the vast majority of the new applications are from OOS. Rutgersā big rise in U.S. News rankings is drawing attention.
NJ kids have been routinely applying to Rutgers for years, and them not being on the Common App hasnāt been an issue. But for OOS kids, itās now significantly easier to apply now that theyāre on CA. So the rise in applications is very likely tilted heavily OOS.
So, yes, itāll be a tougher year but not significantly worse for in state in my view.
Good luck to all applicants!
I do hope that is the case. Rutgers rise to #40 in USNWR rankings and the opening up to the Common App are the likely reasons for the surge in applications.
Totally agree that it is no longer looking to be a safety. Perhaps decisions will be out sooner than the 31st, but either way we will all have answers soon.
For my S24, OOS, the main reason was Rutgers accepting common app and no college specific supplementary questions to answer. We knew OOS acceptance % will surely be lesser than in-state.
His portal shows āin reviewā for quite some time now. Hopefully decision comes soon enough.
Has anyone seen a rejection yet? Iām hoping the āin reviewā may be a good sign at least if rejections have started going out. No news is good news? Haha Iām more nervous than my son!
Nope
No news yet ⦠Applications still in review. I know Iām more nervous than my daughter
My guess is schools that send decisions on a rolling basis, send acceptances first and send declines and defers only closer to the EA published date deadline. Not sure how Rutgers has done it in the past but schools like IU, UMN, Penn State have been releasing acceptances first and only later started releasing defers and declines
Thatās how Rutgers does it too. Waitlists and rejections are at the tail end - in late March/early April.
Is anyone in review for engineering that didnāt apply to other schools? Getting nervous
We are waiting in state engineering.
Ok, makes me feel better that Iām not the only one
My D24 is waiting in state on SoE. She did put SaS as a second choice, though (but wonāt attend if not accepted to SoE).
Is she in review?
Not yet. Status has shown as āapplication submittedā since November.
Anyone have any information on transfer applicants?
