so what do you think the acceptance rate will be this year for in state kids?
Acceptance rate will go down because more students applied with common app
will it be a big difference?
I’m really not sure how big a difference the acceptance rate will be. It just depends on how many students they acceptance to the college. This is my first year having a child applied to college
They can only accept a certain amount, I don’t think that number changes much. The more applications, the lower the acceptance rate.
someone on reddit posted that applicants increased by 60% from last year and 63,000 applied.
Reddit is not a reliable source for college admissions information.
I previously wrote my daughter found out that applications, increased by 44% from her future planning teacher at school who has spoken with Rutgers for some other reasons other than admission
he claimed that he is a high school guidance counselor. However, the email did seem accurate, which is why I’m nervous.
I hope they are right. If it’s 60% increase then there is no way I’m getting in.
I am in review, OOS engineering
If the figure in that reddit post (~63000) is only for New Brunswick, it reflects an increase of 21000+ over the 22-23 CDS, or ~51%. The message quoted is ambiguous as to whether there were >63000 applications for New Brunswick or across all three campuses. But if it’s only Rutgers New Brunswick, and they figure that admitting the same number of applicants will result in a similar yield (a questionable premise, I think), then the admit rate would go from 66% to around 43%.
I think it’s only New Brunswick. That’s a huge difference. Even for in state residents??
I know it’s nerve-racking waiting. My daughter is an out-of-state student and applied to the school of arts and sciences. But only a couple more weeks until they have to announce early action decisions so all we can do is wait.
Good luck
Did you apply to other schools or other SOE?
I would imagine it’s mostly out-of-state kids as I think that a high % of NJ kids have historically applied to Rutgers pre-common app (if my kids’ NJ high school is not unusual).
When did that change for you?
I put second choice as SEBS and third as SAS, both at NB, but I want to say it made me pick three, not sure though
I checked jan 2 but couldve been before, if it was it was probably before winter break so around mid to late december.
