S2 pressess the submit button

S2 committed to Tulane last night right after the campus visit. He has been accepted at several colleges this year and almost all were much “higher ranked” than Tulane. He doesn’t care about that and thinks Tulane is perfect for him. He sat and talked with a philosophy prof for 20 minutes after wandering into the department, and later attended his class. S2 found the discussion lively, sophisticated, and engrossing. Students were quick and eager to participate and the prof enthusiastic and eager to explore ideas. This is what sold him. He also learned a great deal about some programs of which he was unaware, such as the major in political economy through the Murphy Institute.

We are very happy for him and happy for us that all this college decision stuff is now over (and somewhat happy about the generous scholarship, though that was not determinant). We think S2 will be very happy at Tulane and we look forward to visiting.

idad, that’s just wonderful! Congratulations to you all!

idad - Congrats! A visit was what sold our D as well and she hasn’t been disappointed in last 3 yrs…

congrats, idad, and welcome to the TU “family”!

Visit/Destination Tulane sold our D, too, last year.

I have some criticism of the event, but even with those the trip was very worthwhile and for S2 it was really the clincher.

idad - You should start a thread and post your critique, good and bad. Admissions reads this stuff and I am sure they appreciate the input.

been following idad this whole year, as our sons seem to have applied to the same schools.
my son hasn’t pressed the button yet … he’ll probably wait until April 30, as has been his style his entire life

That is precisely what S1 did. He was deciding between UChicago and Reed College. I was trying to stay out of it, …not easy.

Get your ID cards made while you are there. They are just coming out with new ones
