Sadness at a Connecticut Elementary School

My second graders left for school today clutching a teddy bear and stuffed football dog excited for Stuffed Animal Day at school. I can’t get the imagine out of my head as tear roll down my eyes thinking of this tragic event.

This is so far beyond anything I can comprehend the only thing that comes to mind is terrorist attack. But I guess we will learn more as the day goes on.

OMG.
No words.

I expect we will find it is some sort of custody dispute rather than a terrorist attack.

It’s really things like this that make me terrified to be a parent. I’m going on lunch now just to call my own parents. I just can’t even imagine…

CBS reports that a student’s father was the shooter.

Fox News is saying 18 children killed.

I just turned the TV on and I’m stunned. My heart goes out to the families. This is insane.

I just read 27 dead including 18 children–horrifying

Beyond horrifying. :frowning: :frowning: My god, those poor parents and children.

This is sickening… cowardly by the shooter. All the kids do was go to school, as they should.

Prayers to the parents who have lost children, and all the students in general.

Senseless. Tragic.

:(

I read that the shooter was 20 years old.

Can’t imagine the grief.

News reporting the dead shooter was a 20 year old man wearing a bullet proof vest with ties to the school (whatever that means).

CBS News: A suspect is in police custody, Possibly Second Shooter–wearing camoflauge pants, black jacket, and reportedly leaving nearby wooded area in handcuffs.

whole kindergarten class unaccounted for

No no no no no no
Woods? Unaccounted for?

Please please please no

How do we stop this madness? Such evil among us.

This is unimaginable and horrific. I’m just sick.

Oh no. I was just volunteering yesterday in a kindergarten class at our local elementary and thinking how utterly precious the children are, so innocent and so pure and so full of promise. Unspeakable.

There are no words for such an unthinkable tragedy. My heart breaks for these children, teachers, and families.

How do we stop this madness? Incrementally… but I just started by sending a message to every single politician I gave money and time to in the last election cycle to let them know that I will not give another dime or minute to any candidate who does not actively put forward/cosponsor/push gun control AND mental health services legislation. For goodness sake, a woman can’t even get a birth control pill Rx in this country without an annual doctor’s appointment. How about if we make all gun owners have annual relicensing and a mental health check as well?
