Sadness at a Connecticut Elementary School

There are no words. Praying for all of them.

Enough already with simple access to guns! I’m sick to my stomach. Have been watching this for the past two hours. According to the latest news, the shooting took place in a kindergarten classroom. What have 5 year olds done to deserve this?? A 20 year old shooter with “ties to the school” was the gunman. A disgruntled, fired teaching assistant? What could have happened to this young adult to make him take the lives of 5 year olds, let alone adults? I have so much fury and so much anger. I’m sick of guns. I have kids in college and I worry about some lunatic on campus walking into a lecture hall and opening fire! 5 year olds!

And the latest news is that the mother of the shooter has been found dead in her New Jersey home. This is apparently second only to the VaTech campus shooting in terms of numbers of fatalities.

Photos on CNN of the kids crying are just heart wrenching.

So sad. No words, just tears.

Suspect was named, Ryan Lanza. I wonder if his other parent was the kindergarten teacher?

So sad right now. So senseless…CNN reporting this could be worst mass killing in US history.

Suspect’s mother allegedly was a teacher in the school and he killed her and the children in her classroom, according to NBC News

Guns play a role but there’s something wrong in our culture, too. I don’t know what.

How many more schoolchildren are we going to sacrifice on the altar of the Second Amendment?

So… go leave a message for your members of Congress and House. Bring down the websites today with a flood of messages on this topic! Tell them that they have support from you, their constituent, to ACT. Even if you didn’t give 'em money (or didn’t vote for them, or don’t think they will do anything), our voices are the only thing that can provoke action. Something needs to be a counterweight to the NRA, and that can really only be us.

So what do you propose to do about illegal guns?

Our local school is now out of lock down. Words cannot express my sorrow.

Offer a reward for turning them in to the authorities, no questions asked.

Some things are worse than death, among them standing over the grave of your child. Unfortunately for 18 families ( and those of the adults slain) their nightmare is just beginning…
In our thoughts and prayers for all…

There would still be illegal guns. But ILLEGAL GUNS + LEGAL GUNS > ILLEGAL GUNS. If we made it harder to get guns, fewer people would have guns.

DocT, you are touched so personally by this . Even so, I know my child clients will all be scared, and every parent will be uneasy letting their children go off to school. Yet going to the mall or a movie theatre can be unsafe.

So devastated here in CT. My son’s school was on lock-down until about 1:00, he’s on his way home. Can’t wait to see him.

We live about 8 miles from Sandy Hook and I must say that it’s hard to imagine a less likely Community for such an event. Senseless, traggic – words just don’t convey . . .

Awaiting press conference with Governor Malloy.

How many illegal guns have been used in these mass murders?

How many illegal guns have been used in murders? Also, do you know that the guns here were legally held by the murderer?

Gun ownership can still be legal while making it illegal to own automatic and semi-automatic weapons. That is the change that is most needed.
