Safety Schools and Match Schools

I’ve heard the whole “apply to 2 safety, 2 match, and 2 reach” schools. But I am just not sure what could be considered a safety school for me? I have a 34 ACT. For example, could I consider Santa Clara University and Loyola Marymount as safety schools? Then for match, could I consider University of Richmond, Reed, and Brandeis?

A true safety school also needs to be affordable. Have you talked to your parents about paying for college?

I would also point out that you don’t need to apply to reach schools if your top choice is a match or a safety.

My dream schools are Pomona and Duke.

If you choose two safeties, first make sure you could see yourself going there. And secondly, one should be a financial safety and the other should be an academic safety (preferably both in one school).
