Safety Schools for an Econ Major

I was looking for about 3 schools use as safeties in addition to UCONN (in-state). My parents are kicking in 20K a year but other than that I’m on my own. I’m looking for a school with an athletic/interested in sports student body, good for academics, and any type of campus except a completely urban one (ex - NYU). Not into theater or any of that whatsoever.

Stats:

3.9 unweighted, 4.5 weighted (top 10%)
2200 SAT
3 aps junior year, 5 senior year (current)

Ecs and essays should be good.

Thanks!

Some of the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html</a> leave residual costs of attendance below $20,000 per year.

For need-based aid, you need to check net price calculators at each school to see what they may offer.

[Undergraduate Scholarship Office | Scholarships for Nonresidents | West Virginia University](<a href=“Scholarships | Financial Aid | West Virginia University”>Scholarships | Financial Aid | West Virginia University)

West Virginia University, looks like you could get some merit aid there.
Football & Basketball are quite popular, just like at UCONN.

[Financial Aid | 2012-13 Cost of Attendance | West Virginia University](http://www.finaid.wvu.edu/aid_at_wvu/cost_of_attendance/2012-13-cost-of-attendance)

UConn is going to be nice and cheap if you’re in-state. It’s not the best program, but it’ll be cheap.

I don’t know why you would ever look at WVU, even if you’re from WVU.

You should really look at schools where you recieve reciprocity for living in CT (try NY, RI, MA?).

As for being “on your own” for costs beyond $20k, let it be known that YOU can only borrow the following amounts:

5500 frosh
6500 soph
7500 jr
7500 sr

so, for you to really supplement that $20k, you really need to get BIG merit scholarships. $20k + $5500 loan won’t get you far at all. You need merit scholarships from the schools that give them.
