I’ve got a friend who is from Egypt. He currently attends a boarding school in the United States. He is looking to attend college in the United States (or American University in Cairo or Rome) and study Political Science. He is planning on retaking the SAT in January to improve his math score.

Stats:

GPA: ~2.9
SATs: 470 (CR), 380 (M), and 510 (W)
TOEFL: 91 (Internet Based)

Are there any schools that you would recommend for him with his stats that haven’t passed the admissions deadline, which would be considered safety schools (I realize that for a lot of schools the deadline has already passed or is approaching fast for Jan. 15.)? Will his TOEFL only compensate for the CR score or the whole SAT?

Also, here are some schools he has expressed interest in:

American University (D.C.) (Jan. 15 deadline)
American University (Cairo)
American University (Rome)
Arizona State University
Bentley University (Jan. 15 deadline)
Eastern Michigan University
George Mason University (Jan. 15 deadline)
Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan Campus
Manhattanville College
Miami Dade College
SUNY Buffalo State College
