San Bernardino, CA Mass Shooting

I could easily support that.

^^^ That. Like how you can only buy limited Sudafed.

Since they have at least one person down, it’s just a matter of time before his associate or associates are identified and captured. I just hope no other innocents are sacrificed in this effort.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/03/us/san-bernardino-shooting.html says that, after a shootout with the police, one suspect is dead, another is in the vehicle (condition unknown, probably wounded), and a third is being searched for.

Los Angeles County already fingerprints all purchasers of ammo. The store has to clear the purchase with a fingerprint check before the customer leaves the store.

Given that this is San Bernardino, where gang activity is commonplace and given that there were two or three shooters, my first guess would be that somehow gangs are involved.

What beef would gangs have with the county health department, I wonder?

The surviving Boston bomber is currently in a Supermax prison awaiting his execution. I imagine a year or a bit more, the surviving shooter(s) will be in cells next door.

^^^But it would still be a media circus.

WHEN.WILL.THIS.END.
ENOUGH!!!

Why do people do this?? Time, really, for gun control.

A child taken away by the county? A home condemned? I can see all kinds of scenarios that could prompt nut cases with guns.

One has to wonder if these were some kind of anti gov’t militia types. Or as @katliamom suggests above, someone who felt messed around by the “system.”

Just in case anyone is wondering how the rest of the world views this.

If it was the county health department, I wonder if this has something to do with nuts who want to kill doctors who work at abortion clinics? Of course this is all conjecture, but because it seemed coordinated, it sort of cancels out a domestic dispute or disgruntled worker.

“What beef would gangs have with the county health department, I wonder?”

Nothing, most likely, but… Gang violence has been recognized as a major public health issue.

As the parent of a kid who is going into the field, I’m relieved that she will probably end up studying infectious diseases in some African country. Safer.

85. I am just speculating. Perhaps there was a rival gang member in the room. Sometimes gang members do random shootings as gang initiation.

San Bernandino has such a gang and crime problem that the city is bankrupt because businesses and the tax base have left town.

^^^that’s quite a reach.

@BunsenBurner public health officials aren’t allowed to study issues like this. There’s a major taboo on it. I took a class on violence in my MPH program and the data on gun violence is disturbingly silenced.

There is a systematic effort to cover up the true extent of gun violence and how to prevent it in this country. Pretty much every public health official will tell you the same thing.

I know, Romani. That was sarcasm: it is a recognized issue we can’t study.

Sorry, BB, I’m really furious right now and I think I’m coming off as snarky when I don’t mean to be. Definitely not my intention. It was more of a general statement and I tagged you because it was a semi-response to your post.

My fury isn’t directed at you and best wishes to your daughter. You are right that she’s likely safer in Africa depending on where she’s at.

@romanigypsyeyes, I love your passion.
