San Diego CC Gathering - any interest?

Now that I’ve settled in San Diego, I thought it might be fun to plan a get together with other local CC-ers if there’s enough interest. IIRC, it’s been done in New Jersey(?) and Florida in the past. To allow time for planning, I’m thinking sometime in February or early March.

So if you’re interested, please post or PM and I’ll start gathering preferences. Such as: preferred dates/day of week/time of day, e.g. weekday or weekend, coffee/brunch/lunch/picnic/happy hour? And location - downtown, Balboa Park, Mission Bay, Pt. Loma, beach communities, North County, etc.

Hopefully we’ll get enough consensus to satisfy everyone - probably best to keep it casual instead of somewhere requiring reservations, although that depends on how many San Diegans are interested. Feel free to discuss specific venues (keeping in mind the potential need to get under cover considering El Niño).

Hope to get the chance to meet some of you in real life!

I will be in San Francisco from 2/7-2/14. I could try to change ticket to come home from San Diego or arrive their first! :wink:

S lives in SD. Most years I am out there in the spring, but not this year due to a move. If you plan a year from now…as your second meet up, would try to make it.

I live in San Diego and have already met Marilyn and would love to participate. But, I am hesitant to ‘meet up’ because I have bared my life out there with my flipping threads and need to remain somewhat anonymous. Let me think about it

cb, you could come in cosplay - Wonder Woman, Supergirl. I’ll just bet there’s somewhere in San Diego to get a costume. :))

So at least there’s a little interest to get us started! I’m assuming weekends work best, and am also looking at lunchtime or coffee. I’m also looking for a place with some ambiance (vs a shopping mall, for example), and somewhere where we can all find parking!

Proposed dates: February 6 or 7, 27 or 28

Proposed venues for lunch - Paradise Point Barefoot Bar and Grill. Panama 66 in Balboa Park. Jake’s or Poseidon, Del Mar. Liberty Station - lots of options, including Tender Greens and Panera Bread.

Coffee - really wide open but open to suggested meeting places where we could then get coffee nearby. One of my favorites - Spanish Art Center Balboa Park.

Thoughts?

OK, I’m tentatively setting Saturday, February 6 for lunch. First potential venue will be the Paradise Point Barefoot Bar & Grill if you can all make it to the Mission Bay area. I’ll send a pm to everyone who expressed interest and post updates in this thread.
