@Bean981 DS is in AP Calc AB now (earning C+ or higher) and is taking Calc AP exam next week. He still wants to retake Calc at SDSU as a business finance major. If he plans to take Calc a 2nd time, would the SDSU placement test still be required? He usually scores 4’s on his AP exams so expecting at least a 3 on this one.
@biscuit4reggie If he wants to take Calc again, then don’t report his AP Calc exam score to SDSU and take the placement test and the course in the fall.
Anyone know if getting AP credit means advanced placement or does AP score show up in ur college transcript even tho it doesn’t count as part of your GPA?
@SmartGurl17: Not sure what you mean by Advanced Placement. You either take the AP credit for say Calc AB and move to the next Calc class level or you do not take the credit. AP credit will show up on your transcript but either get credit for the AP courses or choose not to use the credit. No grades so not considered in your GPA but they are listed on your transcript.
@gumbymom Is like the AP score listed on the transcript?
@SmartGurl17: I have only seen my son’s unofficial transcript posted in his portal and it shows the AP courses with the test scores and SDSU unit credits. If you attend orientation, you will have a personalized printout of the credits you receive for your AP classes.
@Gumbymom Oh, i didn’t know that. I’m aiming for the lowest possible passing score for senior year…
@SmartGurl17: Like I stated above, the score is on the unofficial transcript. I have never seen a copy of his official transcript. Why would you be aiming for the lowest possible passing score? If you get a 1 or 2, these will not show up on the transcript since these scores will not qualify for any course credit.
My son’s unofficial transcript states he did ap comp Sci and it says he has 3 units credit for I think cs107 which won’t count for anything he needs currently but I don’t see his score on it. If you get a 3 on ap Calc ab you basically get credit for math 141 I think which is what they are doing the math placement. If you get a 4 or 5 then you get credit for math 150. If you are not sending in ap scores for Calc then have them take the assessment for correct placement in math. Otherwise wait and see how he scores and take the next class. I’m sure at orientation they will help him out.
@Gumbymom I meant I was aiming for a 3 O:-)
How can I confirm that SDSU has processed my intent to enroll? When I check my admission status, the intent to enroll section is gone.
Everyone’s intent to enroll section disappears. Do you have a lot more choices in the portal than before you completed the intent to enroll? Under Admissions Status in the Applicant Information does it show PAID for your Application Fee Status? Did you receive an @SDSU.edu email account within 48 hours after you signed the intent to enroll so you could complete the housing agreement?
Does anyone know if you can get the small moving pods delivered to the dorms. Moving daughter from Texas, and really don’t want to have to make that drive. Trying to figure out what our options are. Thanks
@texcalmom That’s a longggg drive! My mom feels the same way about attending for orientation.
I’d say fly here and buy here. You can pre-order from Bed Batth and Beyond (at your local store or online) and have it ready for pick up here. They also accept expired coupons in store so that way you can get 20% off of everything you buy if your horde the coupons. There is one in Mission Valley here in San Diego which is pretty close to campus. There is also a Target there too to pick up other stuff. Then just fly soutwest. You (the parent) carryon your bag and she uses the free checked bags for her clothes and other personal stuff. I highly doubt they will allow pods to be delivered as there is no room for them to put them there. Most people that go to school out of state do that. Then just rent a cheap storage unit for the summer so she doenst have to move it back. There are also three major shopping centers close to school (well about 10-15 min from there. Two via trolley for sure.
What time does the Housing Portal open tomorrow? Is it important to sign up quickly, or will priority (if any) be given by the date you signed your Housing Contract? What types of options are you signing up for? Learning Communities, Meal Plan…what else?!
My D will be selecting her roommate preference as well as meal plan. I don’t know what time it opens.
I don’t believe priority is given based on time you submit. I called and asked about learning community availability and that’s what I was told. Orientation sign up will be more crucial in signing up ASAP
I sent my AP scores and college transcripts on April 30th, but they are still showing as red x’s on the application portal despite being due May 1. Does anyone know why it is taking so long?
Also, for anyone in the webers college was there anything that I was supposed to do besides the SIR and that intent to enroll in the honors college link I was sent? I did not get a confirmation email or anything so I am confused
@ cocoonutty - I think they are going to send you something during the summer. It sounds like you did everything you needed to do.
